Anyone else having problems with UBid lately?

I won an auction a week ago and my account still shows it is in credit card processing. I can’t even send an help request over the website because the site screws up the request. I tried to call today and waited at least 35 minutes on hold before hanging up. The site says they are undergoing a software change and that a small percentage of orders would be delayed for 5 days. Well it’s been over 5 days and I still can’t figure out what is going on. A few days ago they sent me a standard e-mail stating that my order was being sent to their partner warehouse to be filled. Still, however my account status has not changed. Has anybody else had this problem?

Hate to bump so early, but I really need to know.

So let me get this straight. Noone here has won on Ubid recently. Even if you aren’t having problems with your order could you please tell me so I can know? Thanks

I have never used ubid but I must help a fellow doper in dispair. Cough.bump.cough

have you tried searchingthe message boards at cnet.com?

I buy thousands and thousands and dollars worth of stuff via Ubid annully and they still treat me like a peasant. Welcome to the club. You’ll need to send an email to them as that is the only way they will really respond.

They deliberately make it practically impossible to get through to them except via email. Their prices are good but I suspect a lot of their profit is in their “handling” changes that they tack onto items (ie 60.00 total to ship me a 35 lb computer that would normally cost 25.00 - $ 30.00 max to ship) that can add as much as 25% to the price in some cases.

You also need to understand that if the item is defective and you return it for credit you will be out the shipping cost (item price only credited) and you will have to pay to send it back to them. If the item arrives DOA and you choose to get it repaired you will have to pay shipping to the service depot. Once it leaves the shipping dock with Ubid you are on your own to a large extent.

I’ve had good luck with some of the refurbished items that are refurbed by the original OEM but others refurbed by second parties I’ve had to repair myself because of amazingly incompetent technician review of what was wrong with the returned machines to be “refurbed”. I’m int he middle of one of these little “oops” right now with Ubid.

There are some good deals via Ubid but you need to understand that they will give you little if any help with a problem. Good Luck.
