Anyone else heard of Phillipe Sauvage/Philip Savage?

Has anyone heard of Phillip Sauvage (aka Philip Savage)? He supposedly can cure AIDS and save the world from imminent destruction.

A little background:

I was recently contacted by an old high school acquaintance via e-mail who told me he’d found his life’s purpose, and the message he had was VERY IMPORTANT and had SERIOUS CONSEQUENCES for everyone. You get the picture. I almost dismissed it as a chain letter or spam, but it had a more genuine personal touch than the usual internet detritus, and this was a guy that was generally regarded as very intelligent back when I knew him in high school. So I replied and then gave him a call. He claims to be affiliated with one Philippe Sauvage, who apparently has found a cure for AIDS and pretty much any other ailment. I was directed to study his website www.thulea.org for more information. My first impression was, oh my god, my former classmate has joined a cult. My limited research turned up a Washington Post article from 12/24/2001 “Deported Druid Becomes Cause Celebre,” wherein it’s stated that several members of congress publicly expressed their concern that “…the United States had just relinquished one of its most valuable weapons in the war against terrorism.” Huh? I realize that, statistically, the US Congress has to have at least a few kooks as well, but it led me to wonder, and ask the teeming millions: who is this guy, is he even quasi-legitimate… and should I be wasting my time wondering?

He claims to have cured people by thought alone. :dubious:

My assessment: :wally

I was thinking along the same lines… Just seemed odd that he’d actually gotten the attention of the US congress (!) Thulea - Washington Post

This is a copy of his deportation hearing It sounds like he defrauded a few people 200 or so…

I found a “contract” on his website for new devotees to fill out. One requirement is a finger print…

The entire text of the “contract” sounds like an episode of the X Files
