Anyone else love My Name is Earl?

I have finished watching every episode of season 1 and I gotta tell ya, I love that show. I think its extremely funny and entertaining. I think Jaime Pressly does a great job and Jason Lee is aweasome. I love Ethan Suplee’s dumbwitted, good intentioned character Randy. I love the storyline. The premise is great as well and seems like it could go on for years. I mean, I just can’t get over it. There is nothing about this show that I don’t like!

If you are tired of My Name is Earl, you are tired of life.

I agree - it’s a VERY good show with excellent writing and acting.

They seem to do a great job with continuity so far too (keeping track of what Earl has accomplished from the list, keeping track of their money, the status of the car, etc.)

I also particularly like how they make such excellent use of the people in Earl’s world, and haven’t narrowed it down to four or five leads yet. (I hope they don’t cheap out in the second season.) They’re also very generous with their jokes - I laugh more at their throwaway lines than at some other entire shows. Even their song selection is funny - using Peace Frog by the Doors for the one legged donut lady was perfect.

The way they use the townspeople reminds me of how The Simpsons operates - you get the feeling that this is a real town, full of all these quirky characters.

I love the show too. Last season there were weekly threads here to dicuss the episodes as they aired. I’m sure they’ll start up gain in a few weeks when the new season starts.

The maid and Earl’s ex are serious hotties by the way.

My only complaint is that Earl just can’t take a good photo to save his life!

Bryan, not only are you the master of the blatantly obvious but you also have good taste. Catalina’s mine though!

But Randy called dibs on her first.

:stuck_out_tongue:

He’s easy to distract, you just need something shiny.

I didn’t realize how much computer effects they use in the show. Do you remember when Randy was playing football and caught it? That was a computer football. Crazy.

My favorite quote “Sorry, I don’t speak Maid”

This Christmas I kept wishing everybody a “Feliz Naviblah” (meaning Christmas in Mexican in case you didn’t know). You have to love Randy, there is no way around it.

My Name is Earl is the first sitcom I’ve watched for 10 years or so. I’m probably just weird, but crude sex, potty humor and obnoxious smart-mouthed kids just aren’t funny to me.

“Earl,” though, while hysterically funny, is - for lack of a better word - gentler. Even the freakiest people Earl deals with are treated with a certain degree of affection. It even has a positive message (doing good things for people makes you feel good), without beating you over the head with it.

Can’t wait for season 2!

What I can’t wait for is the DVD! I have very few TV series on DVD, but from remarks I have seen from Jason and Ethan, the DVD will be everything you ever wanted to see but couldn’t get past the censors. They speak of making an entire episonde for the DVD consisting of nothing but the Not Ready For Primetime material they’ve recorded while forming. I can’t wait to see this!

Another Earl fan checking in. I love that show! Can’t wait for the second season to start - hope they don’t suffer a sophomore slump. Also too bad that Jason Lee and so many of the rest of the cast didn’t walk away with well-deserved Emmys.

Agreed. I think Jaime Pressly should have walked with something. As well as Jason Lee.

I love the show, too. Earl’s calm narration is a treat.

By the way, I caught The Incredibles last week, and I was surprised to find that Jason Lee voiced Dash, the little boy.

Jason Lee was Syndrome in The Incredibles. Dash was voiced by another actor.

They also used Jason Lee’s voice (slightly digitally raised) for the young Buddy/IncrediBoy.
I was watching Mallrats the other day and was reminded/surprised how versatile Lee is.
Ethan Suplee deserves an Emmy, but he’ll probably never get one.
