I didn’t find any other thread about it, so there we go:
I recently discovered Drawception, a web-based drawing game which, in their own words, is where simple drawing meets the classic “telephone game”.
Each game consists of at least 12 players, with each player doing either a drawing depicting the last caption, or a caption describing the last drawing, until the game finishes. The resulting games sometimes are amazingly consistent, while other times they take a whole bunch of unexpected but often fun turns.
An older example, which one of my all-time-favourites so far: Stalin eats mayonnaise out of the jar
While the drawing tools are extremely basic and you are stuck with a 10-minute time limit to create your panel, there are some really wonderful Drawception artists out there whose panels are truly stunning.
Even though it’s not just about drawing pretty pictures, the art part is what got me into it, because I’ve finally found something that motivates me to actually do something instead of just thinking that maybe, someday…
I used to do a lot of drawing and painting when I was younger, but for various reasons there came a point where I completely stopped enjoying it and it just disappeared out of my life. Right now I’m drawing some panels almost every day though, and I’m actually getting some satisfaction out of it, which is a good thing. Mind you, it’s easier to have a caption to work with instead of just facing Blank Page Syndrome, so that helps too.
So, anyone else playing Drawception and if yes, maybe want to share some of your games or art?
