Help finding an online drawing (telephone) game

A few years ago there was an amazing website dedicated to a drawing game. The way it worked was that you’d click play or whatever and one of three things would happen:

1.) You’d be asked to come up with a clue for other people to draw. Any clue.

OR

2.) You’d be given a clue written by a previous player that could be as simple as “a red ball” or as complicated as “a dwarf wants to go fishing but can’t because a giant flying cactus ate his boat” that you’d then have to draw as accurately as possible with the intention of getting the next player to accurately guess what it was you were trying to draw.

OR

3.) You’d be given a picture drawn by a previous player and you’d have to guess what their clue was.

The game would advance like this as a sort of visual telephone game until a secret, predetermined number of turns had passed at which time you could view the entire history of the game (you could view all the histories of all the games you’d played in on your profile). There weren’t any winners or losers; the fun was in reviewing the games you’d played in and seeing the hilarious turns they took.

I’ve been looking for this site but I can’t remember what it was called and I’d appreciate if anyone who does remember can point me to it. Thanks!

Doodle or Die.

As it happens, I’d never heard of this site until a friend introduced me to it a week ago. Go go synchronicity.

On reflection this might not be the same site you had in mind, but it is a drawing telephone game.

The particular edition described in the first post is defunct now. It was called Broken Picture Telephone.

Thanks. It’s similar but not quite as good. I think it lacks the persistence and feeling of community that the other one had, which was pretty cool. Thanks anyway though.

Yup! That’s it, thanks. According to the site they’re “still here” but who knows how long that message has been there? I’ll keep checking back every now and then and hopefully they’ll eventually get it started again.

People can look here for examples of play. Scroll down to see some typical drawings.

Doesn’t have to be online to play either - I remember this well as a drunken (or otherwise altered, depending on the person) college game - we’d have sessions that ran for hours, getting more and more crazy as the thread progressed. One of our group worked at the university library, and we got all of the tail-ends of the receipt tapes to use. Some of those “drunk drawphone” scrolls were nearly a yard long.

Synchronicity is weird - A friend found a bundle of them packed up in some random college things last week, and we spent a vastly amusing evening looking through them and seeing if we recognized the drawings and handwritings there.

There’s another board I frequent that has regular ‘MSPaint’ games doing this. It gets quite hilarious, especially with all the in-jokes that get thrown in there.

I’m betting the Doper board would be a great place to do one.

The pen and paper version is usually called Eat Poop You Cat and a commercialized version is available called Telestrations. Great fun with friends at parties, but I can’t see myself getting into it as much with strangers online.

That site seems to be full of people just discovering that they have sexual organs, but I haven’t laughed this hard in a long time! I may be sleep deprived, however. :0)

Man, there is some good funny to be had there. Hilarious! And some of these people can really draw surprisingly well.
