Anyone else playing Hotline Miami?

This game has its hooks in me bad.

It’s a top-down, pixel-art (think 16-bit graphics), trippy, horrorshow ultraviolence arcade shooter. Very fast, very disturbing. Think classic PC GTA meets Super Meat Boy meets Pacman via Smash TV.

Special mention for the soundtrack, which is brilliant. Thumping electro during missions, trippy electronic psychedelia once everyone is dead or when you’re in your apartment. And the story so far as I’ve gotten - neat. Drug-induced nightmare.

Just curious, anyone else enjoying this one?

I just finished it up. It’s a fantastic little tactical game, with a nice combo of twitch clickery and slow, stealthy mechanics. All wrapped in a package that looks like it’s straight off your NES.

Let me warn you though: the story starts out as a bit of a mindfuck, gets more mindfuckier, and winds up mindfuckosimus.

I haven’t played the game and it is very unlikely that I will. But I just Listened the soundtrack straight through, and the music is great. Great mix of techno, dub step, psychedelic, chip tune. Great stuff. Almost mass me want to play the game.

Someone’s watched Scarface, A clockwork orange and Tarantino movies.

I’m making my way through it and quite liking the gameplay, style and story, to the extent that I can understand it.

If someone has an hypothesis when it comes to making sense of the story, please share it.
Any favorite mask or weapon?

I’m the doorman with the katana.

Update: It’s on sale for 2.50$ on Steam right now through Tuesday. Very much worth it.
Looking forward to the sequel.

It’s a buck and a half on steam right now.
