Anyone else remember "She TV"?

Don’t know why this popped into my head, but man, it was a great show. For those of you who forget, it was a summer replacement sketch comedy series on ABC in 1994, that had as its gimmick a predominately female cast. I’m just remembering some of the bits, and chuckling to myself:

The brutal Fabio and Rush Limbaugh parodies;
The women’s book club that, every week, discussed The Bridges of Madison County;
And my favorite, the throwaway Forrest Gump bits -
Forrest Gump, sitting on a bus bench, with a box of chocolates: “My momma told me, life is like a box of chock-o-lates. You never know what you’re gonna get.
No, wait, this box of chock-o-lates has one of them maps in it. This one here is vanilla cream. Ayup.
Hmm. Life isn’t like this box of chock-o-lates.”

Sua

I actually caught a few episodes of it here in South Africa a few years back. Our government national broadcaster (SABC) has a knack for buying shows even though they’re cancelled and only have a few episodes in the bag as they’re usually dirt cheap.

Anyway I remember that a pre-3rd Rock From The Sun Simbi Khali (who played Nina on 3rd Rock) was one of the players in the show.

I remember that show, Sua. Bea Arthur was on the premiere episode. She did a series of short bits that ripped into “French playboy Gerard Depardieu.”

Another Gumpism:
“She TV is like a warm, soapy enema. You know you’ll get one every Tuesday night.”

YES!! It was my favorite show (back then, any new sketch comedy became my favorite show).

Best parts:

The bra that was really just a man’s hands

The talkshow hostess Boquita who thought she was going to interview the sexy “Joyce brothers”

I also remember a sketch about The Fly that I thought was hillarious but I can’t remember what happened in it.

Was that the one that had Al Gore as a recurring character? That show was pretty darn cool (for a weekly skit show, of course).

This is the only sketch I can remember from this show. It stuck in my head for some reason…

I remember the bra, but what really stuck with me was the Sipkowitz word of the day. “Splooge Monkey”. “Snackpants”.

I also loved that show! (like pizzabrat, I was really into sketch comedy shows back then)
