They recently released a “Special Edition” with enhanced, computerized special effects. No, I’m not joking.
Well, I watched it last night…
What in God’s name were they thinking? It was excrutiatingly horrible!! There’s a good 20 minutes worth of three Wookies walking around their house talking to each other - in Wookian, or whatever you call that “language.” Just grunting and growling at each other.
The footage of space action is spliced together with footage of Han and Chewie in some cheap version of the Falcon’s cockpit. There’s an Imperial soldier of some sort who reminds me more of Rick Moranis in Spaceballs than anything else.
Bizarre is the only word I have for it. I must have fallen asleep when I watched it as a kid. How else could I not remember this crap? It could seriously damage a young child’s brain.
Too bad I don’t smoke pot anymore. Maybe that would help it.
