Anyone else taking an actuarial exam next week?

Passed. I’m trying to decide whether to go for the next one, but I think I need the semester to kick off first.

Yes, I passed! On the CAS side we get our fall results just before Christmas.

I’m very excited as I have now reached the last exam, but I’m realistic enough to know it will probably take me two tries to pass it. However, regardless of what happens I’ll have next fall off  !

Congratulations on passing the evil Course C.

Three Dopers and three passes. Well done.

I, on the other hand, marked exams this time round. Now there’s a boring task.

And she passed. It was her last one, so she was very pleased.

And we got extremely good results with the Australian exams this time round. We had five students in the office sitting and four of them passed.

I’ve been at it for more than a month, and I still haven’t finished reading the material for the last exam, much less taking any notes or solving any problems.

Groan.

I’m trying to decide whether to take MLC this spring. I ordered the study manual and plan on hitting it over the next few months, so we’ll see how I feel as the registration deadline gets closer.

Which one do you have left?

Well, ultrafilter, you can take it with me then. My strategy was to register for MLC at the earliest possible moment, committing myself to it from the get-go. It seems fairly straightforward–mainly seems to require working a ton of problems. I plan to do every problem in the ASM manual by May.

CAS 8, Investments and Financial Analysis.

So, ultrafilter, are you taking MLC with me on Thursday? It’s definitely the hardest one I’ve had so far. The learning curve is steep; I got through a lot of material before feeling like I had a grasp on it and then it started to click. Not much more I can do at this point besides take one or two last practice exams and hope for the best.

ETA: Change “C” to “MLC” in my first post, and every other detail is still completely true :stuck_out_tongue:

Nah, I decided to sit this one out. If I get around to it, it’ll be a bit later, and I’ll take a class that covers the material–I just can’t motivate myself to study this stuff on my own.

That one (MLC) went pretty well, too. Feels good.

Here’s hoping.

I’ve been roped in to mark again. Blast.

I’m starting to think you like it, Cunc

“The actuary doth protest too much…”

Forgot to post my results. Success (on MLC)!

P, FM, C, MLC… that puts me about halfway to an ACAS.

I think you still need one of MFE/3F or the upper level exams to have hit the halfway point. Still, congratulations on passing MLC.

Well done.

Well, it’s that time again. CAS 5: Ratemaking is tomorrow. Posting here seems to be good luck so… here’s hoping the graders can read my illegible scrawl!

Freddy, old boy, did you get your letters yet? And I don’t mean the ones starting with “A” letters, the ones starting with “F”.

Good luck.

A three hour paper?

It’s that time again, again. Exam day tomorrow. Go, go, CAS 6!
