A couple of days ago, Apple unveiled their new web browser just for OS X, Safari. I’ve been using it instead of IE, and I rather like it. It still has some bugs, but I think I’ll stick with it over IE, if only for the popup-killing feature. The feature that allows you to add a new bookmark exactly where you want on the list is pretty nice, too. And Google search right next to the URL field? Yes, thank you!
But, of course, there are still bugs. Sometimes Google appears off-center for me. I wish new windows would open in a more neat, staggered pattern. It only waits 30 seconds for a response before it stops trying, and I can’t find a place to change that. And a couple of times, I’ve had to reload a page because links stopped working.
So, is anyone else trying it out? What do you think?
I downloaded it yesterday, but since I only have OSX.1 it wouldn’t install. I think micilin installed it last night, but I don’t know if he’s on the boards at the moment. It certainly looks good though.
I like it… alright. I do need to mess around with it more, maybe force myself to use nothing but it for a day or two. It’s fast, no doubt about it. Love the built-in pop-up killer. On the downside, visually, I think it’s clunky and a little ugly, which bothers me perhaps more than it should. Hopefully they work on that for the final release. The bookmark system took a bit of getting used to, but I think I’m going to really end up liking that.
I’ll stick with IE as my main browser for now, probably, but I can see Safari taking its place as it moves closer and closer to a final release.
