Anyone fill in the XKCD survey?

Did everyone get the wall color right? (It was beige)

ETA: they may give partial credit for eggshell.

I was troubled by the use of the word “random” but I just went ahead and type a bunch of keys without thinking about it too much.

Also, Warren Beatty who I dislike but not as much as I dislike Tom Cruise.

Apartment White

I was bothered that I couldn’t actually fill the box, 'cause it started scrolling down to new lines. I may need my medication adjusted.

I went with Jennifer Lawrence for the movie star. And typed cat sans quotes, because if quotation marks aren’t going to be respected we end up with them being used everywhere for emphasis and that’s not OK. (Apparently I have strong feelings about quotation marks.)

Very much looking forward to playing with the data.

did anyone else type five random words

Hmmm… I put Tom Cruise too. I don’t like him as a person and am mixed about him as an actor, but it is a pretty safe bet that I will like movies that he is in. Vanilla Sky and Eyes Wide Shut are the only two I can think of that I disliked. He’s a reliable way to enjoyably waste a couple hours.

I just wrote cat without any quotes. It never even occurred* to me that there would be a trick there.

  • which happens to be the word I always misspell the first time I type it.

For favorite number… I’m always saying “47” anytime I mean “a really long list of things.” (Example “that guy just broke 47 traffic laws” or “there are 47 ways to get cancer.”) So I went ahead and put that. On the second favorite number, I put 42. It’s not so much a favorite, but it’s a nice shout-out to Douglas Adams.

For the record, my five random words were: this is weird two more

Well, pseudorandom. But with very high entropy.

How long did you key mash? The text entry box expands, so I’m wondering if it had a character limit. I quit after expanding it to just a few extra lines.

Brad Pitt was the first to popped into my head. Random words refused to enter my mind so I typed the first five words my eye fell on. The first two being ammonium and lactate.

Tom Cruise for me, and I hate that guy as well

I did it until I filled the originally displayed box.

For the movie star, I picked The Movie Star: Ginger Grant.

My random words included “Oddment” (one of the “few words” Dumbledore would like to say during his speech), “syzygy” and “plectrum” just because I like those words, and “battery”, which I am assured is guaranteed to be random. I can’t remember the fifth word I chose.

I wasn’t sure what to put about the upper-body-garment I’m wearing, it being nonexistant, so I entered “N/A”.

I wrote Robert DeNiro for the movie star.

It had a character limit. I reached it eventually. (After accidentally searching for gibberish, toggling caps lock repeatedly, tabbing to other questions, opening new tabs, opening new windows in private mode, putting my browser into full-screen mode…)

When I realized the box expands, I deleted the last few characters, then added some new ones in until the addition of one more character triggered the box expansion, because it said “fill this box”, dammit.

Ain’t I quirky!

I picked Jennifer Lawrence which sort of surprised me since I have no special interest in her films but I guess E! News and the supermarket checkout line won that round.

Wow. You all would hate me because I typed a line and a half of nonsense and then C and Ped it until the box started scrolling and called it a day.

I don’t remember four of my words, but the middle one was Dumbledore.

The word “random” and four of its synonyms.

Yes, I’m criticized for being too literal. Why do you ask?
