I was going to start a thread before the tournament started, but decided against it, but now it’s gotten crazy.

The whole “handshake gate” thing ended in Short crushing Chep.

Today was crazy, with a nutso (probably unsound) sac by topa against (of all people) Kramnik, and it looks like Carlsen (who is having a great tournament) blundered a draw into a loss in todays game.

I’m not at all sure that the sac was unsound (not that I’m an expert anyway), but in any case it seems incredibly difficult to defend over the board. Topalov had analyzed some of the lines out to move 40; that’s pretty tough to defend against even if you’re among the best in the world.
