Anyone have good success with hair extensions? Trying to help stressing co-worker.

She got chopped. Not on the Food Network series, but by her stylist. She has a couple of events coming up, and I am trying to understand the grief, because she is stunningly attractive with short hair. Anyway…

She started searching for hair extensions, and she is about as confused as they come.

I’m no help, but I am more schooled in teh interwebs. I am trying to get her onto a hair/stylist message board, but I figure the SDMB would be worth a shot.

I think a few issues are at hand here for her: Is human hair a must? How does she match her hair color? She has mostly blond (very light) and some dark streaks. The longer her hair gets, the blonder it gets. Is there a length limit where she’d be pushing her luck?

That’s all I got.

Take her out for drinks to ease the pain?

Just have the hair cut short and cute (by someone else, obviously), and she’ll grow it out.

Hair extensions can mess you up pretty good, just do some basic googling.

To get extensions done right is a lot of money, like a lot, lot of money. Like more than a thousand dollars.

God, I need to post a picture, so you can honestly rave about her. Drinks are the best option right now!

Hair extensions need to be done by a stylist. And be prepared to spend a ton and damage your own hair. I would just tell her to wait a few days, getting a lot of hair cut off can just take a while to get used to. It can be shocking to see it at first, but people who are used to long hair just don’t seem to be able to really evaluate how good they do or don’t look with short hair, all they see is ‘different’. In a few weeks she may feel better and even like it if it is a good cut.

Kaneisha will do it flawlessly for 100. Quaneisha will do it a bit more roughshod for 60.
