I was thinking of getting this on DVD for my better half. Anyone seen it? Comments?
Bump, as I’m interested myself.
Never heard of it, but it looks awesome.
I have some of the songs from the soundtrack. I just picked up the Essential Chieftains and they were on it, including the song “Long Journey Home” by them and Elvis Costello. It’s a beautiful song.
I own it, and play the first hour or so every year for my AP Euro kids. It has a very good treatment of the famine, causes, responses and the migration that it set in motion.
I remember watching it and finding it quite interesting, but can’t remember any details about it. I do have the soundtrack CD, which has some wonderful songs. One of my favorites is Vince Gill singing “The Bard of Armagh” and then following it with “The Streets of Laredo”, which has the same tune.
I’m curious, what are AP Euro kids?
I’m guessing he’s a teacher and teaches AP (Advanced Placement) European History. European History for smart kids.
