So I really didn’t think I’d like this game, but I’m hopelessly addicted. It’s a browser-based MMORPG that takes place in a Valhalla-like world where death is temporary and frequent. Characters fight it out in the ultimate battle of good and evil to decide which ethos will prevail in the next universe. There are no quests (save what quests you make for yourself) and no flashy graphics. It’s more of a completely nonlinear text adventure. However, the game is oddly satisfying without the aspects you typically associate with a computer game–people seem to role-play a lot (if that’s your thing), there’s factions you can join (which provides some pseudo-quest like entertainment), and there’s plenty of combat and character development.
The best (and worst) part of the game is that you can really only play it twice a day for like 10 minutes–your action points are limited and regenerate very slowly. This means that the game tends to stay fresh (and I find myself going through mild withdrawal sometimes) and nobody can race ahead of you by playing 20 hours a day and picking up all the sweet items (pretty much every game by Blizzard, I am looking in your direction).
So is anyone from the SDMB out in the Nexus? I’m The Comedian and The Narrator–feel free to punch them in the face if you should happen to run into them. They’d do the same for you.
Here’s the site. Here’s the wiki. Here’s to hoping this thread doesn’t die immediately on contact with the harsh realm of Cafe Society.
