Anyone here use the shopping site Wish?

Hello Everyone,

My wife put a new app on het phone from the shopping site Wish. I browsed through it and this can’t be legit, can it? They’re selling things like laptops for $12, $400 drones for $30. How can that be possible? Is it a scam of some sort?

You get what you pay for. Why would anyone want a $12 laptop? This stuff is direct from China so don’t expect it to be comparable to Amazon.

I Bought 5 Knockoff Tech Products From Wish
I Ordered The First 5 “Free” Things From Wish
Wearing $5 Clothes From Wish For A Week

Basically, you get low quality knock-offs for cheap prices. Up to you to decide if the lower price is worth the drop in quality.

Thanks, I figured it want worth the time.

I’ve been using Wish for 4 years now. Yeah, some stuff is crap but most of the items I have bought have been good quality and quite useful. Also, if your items dont arrive, they refund your money quickly and with no hassle. I buy the knockoff Mr Clean magic erasers in bulk.

Lil’wrekker has bought all manner of junk from Wish. She loves her some $1 stuff. It is mostly crap, but she likes it. Weird socks, fun sun glasses, colorful hats and t-shirts.
I have ordered a few crafty type things. They were fine. I don’t think I would trust anything electronic.YMMV.

heh try their sister site :geek its waay cheaper and you get some seriously weird stuff off of it

I’ve gotten quite a bit of stuff from there, though the only high tech item I’ve gotten was a trail cam for $28. Honestly I was pleasantly surprised at the quality so I may order a few more. Not sure I’d risk a $12 laptop but I might go for a $30 drone.

My main complaint is the lack of SAE tools and fasteners. Everything is metric. Not surprising, just annoying.

ETA: The $30 drone would probably be half the size you would expect. Pay attention to the measurements in the description.

I’ve ordered a few things from Wish - only one of them has arrived so far (the others are coming in the next week or two).

I am buying mostly because I don’t expect the products to conform to the description - I’m planning to get a couple of YouTube videos out of the experience.

My observations so far:
[ul]
[li]Descriptions and thumbnails are knowingly misleading - for example a product with a thumbnail which says it is an octa-core Android tablet is actually a screen protector for the tablet[/li][li]Some of the product listings contain a mix of very cheap items (which is the price you see in the main screen) plus the genuine item - so for example when you look at some of the smart watches, when you select the product in the dropdown, there are items that are just ‘LED Watch’ for a low price and ‘Black Smartwatch’ at a much higher price.[/li][li]Some of the products aren’t products at all - they’re raffles for cheap shit - the thumbnail and title describes some desirable product, but the description says it could be costume jewellery and ‘we hope you are lucky’[/li][/ul]

I have ordered:
A bluetooth conference headset - I have received this and it was not as described (I chose one with a charging dock stand - this just has a cable. It’s reasonably OK to use though.

A retro game controller thing with ‘600 games’ that plugs straight into the TV (supposedly arriving today) - I am expecting this to contain knockoff SNES or other games. It was very cheap (£4 I think) so I am not pinning my hopes very high

A very cheap smartwatch (£8) that supposedly functions as a full featured phone with SIM and MicroSD slots. I am expecting this to be a brick on a strap.

I order lots of stuff from them. Nothing above €22, so I don’t have to pay import duty. Yes it’s cheap but it’s not all terrible. Downside is you never know when it’s going to arrive.
