My main hobby is painting. I don’t know how good I really am, but I enjoy painting, and I take photos of most of my paintings and put them up on my flickr page because some of my friends and family like to see them.
Last night I posted a few more paintings to my page. This morning I got a message on flickr saying this:
I thought the message sounded kind of scammy, but there really is a student art website that goes off of the main Saatchi website. So it’s apparently not just some website that some random guy made just using the Saatchi name.
Is there a bot just searching for any paintings posted on flickr and sending the message to them? That seems like the most likely conclusion, because while I am proud of my work, I know I’m not that great. And anytime someone comes out of nowhere and says that I’ve been selected for something, that sets off some warning bells.
I didn’t see anywhere that the site asked for money, but maybe after I register, I’ll get some other message on how I could sell my paintings if I only paid some money to have some higher status membership on the website or something.
So, anyone got any ideas? Is this a scam? Should I try registering on the Saatchi gallery website?
(Or if you just want to critique some of my paintings, feel free to do that as well. I’m always looking for constructive criticism. )
