I just heard this song on the radio. Apparently it was a popular dance around Texas in the late sixties, but, I don’t think it made it to the west coast. At least I don’t remember ever seeing it. Anybody here from Houston that might be able to explain how to do the Tighten Up.

I once asked a woman from Houston who was about the right age and she didn’t know. I await the answer humbly. I love this song. Best clapping ever.
Weird factoid: when this song became a hit, Archie Bell had been drafted and was in Vietnam.
I don’t know how to do it, but I do know you have to make it mellow.
HOLY CRAP!! From someone who had trouble learning the Twist and the Freddy, that is one complicated dance. Thanks, DDG. I was gonna try to learn the dance for my wife ( she likes the song ) but, I guess it’s back to Do The Freddy.
Boogalooing this one over to Cafe.

Aw, c’mon. Learn it, then do it for your webcam, then post it on Youtube. You could be the next Numa Numa guy! ![]()
Wow. What whack-ass white boy taught the Drells to dance?
Maybe gnagtcha could drop a little Baltimore Club on his wife.
I dunno, but I sure hope they walk better than that.
( In my best Michael Jackson voice ) “That made me giggle”
And that made me spurt beer out of my nose!!
