Anyone know what is supposedly up with John Travolta?

I was willing to accept that you’ve never seen a John Travolta movie. But saying you don’t find Halle Berry attractive? No, I’m not buying that. You’re clearly an AI program testing to see if you can pass undetected among humans and you’ve now failed. Better luck on the next version.

I also think that Julie Bowen is 100x more attractive than Sofia Vergara is, and that is from someone who prefers brunettes over blondes 99% of the time.

(To me, Angelina Jolie isn’t nearly as attractive as the average Soccer Mom I see shopping in the grocery store here in Salt Lake on a daily basis, and they don’t have the benefit of her stylists, wardrobe people or personal trainers—She is the most overhyped “Sex Symbol” since Farrah Fawcett)

Look at Travolta’s filmography.

What about Look Who’s Talking?

I guess I was wrong about the 2nd JT movie, as Grease is the sole movie on the list that I have ever seen.

I have always had odd tastes in movies & TV, and probably only see 7 or 8 new movies a year, and I have never had cable or satellite TV, so I have missed a lot of so-called classics.

Anyway, I don’t know much about many “stars” but I was def. aware that Travolta had long been rumored to be deep “In-The-Closet”, as well as his fellow Scientologist Tom Cruise.
(If anyone cares, the last T.C. movie I ever saw was Rain Man, which was only about 5 years ago, on the late-late night movie on one of SLC’s local broadcast channels. For what it’s worth, I thought it was good.)

Speak for yourself, I’ve had the schwing for her since Hackers!

Is John Travolta gay?

My automatic response is, “Who cares?”

Years ago, many gay stars were blackmailed by opportunists who figured that information would destroy a Hollywood career.

For blatant bed-hopping and spousal cheating, I think Washington DC is more scandalous!

I guess that makes you a more mature, balanced, decent person than I am, eh?

Well, I care inasmuch as it is weird to me that in 2012, probably the most accepting time in modern human history for gay and lesbian people (particularly crazy-rich people in the entertainment industry) a guy like John Travolta would feel the need to hide from/lie to/mislead the public about his orientation.

It’s one thing to be private about your private life (I wish more celebs would take this approach) but to go as far as to live a double life (if indeed that is actually what JT does) and/or marry a woman when you would rather be banging rent-boyz, seems almost schizophrenic.

I can see it (being “In The Closet”) for someone like a right wing evangelical preacher, who would stand to lose everything if they were openly living as gay, but for an established actor who is already a megastar???

Why not just be open?

Funny how some people can take any subject and make it about themselves.

Holy crap do I feel like a moron for not realizing John Travolta was Vinnie Barbarino.

Preach it!

I don’t see what the attraction is with Halle Berry. Or Angelina Jolie for that matter. I’ve seen hotter women in everyday life, waitresses, co-workers and even in the grocery store. (Although most of them are usually in a relationship, go fig) About the only positive thing I can say about Halle is that at least she had a good sense of humor and actually showed up to receive her Razzie for Catwoman.

Back on topic, I like JT. I think he’s a pretty good actor, despite the CofS thing. That’s about the only thing I don’t like about him. I know he’s usually an over the top actor, like his crazy film bro Tom Cruise, but, hell, it’s Hollyweird. They get paid to fake the crazy. Though I don’t think he’s that far from faking.

As far as the gay thing goes, I don’t give a flap either way. Gay or not, I still like (most of) his movies. Although, I have never seen Grease.

Well, in Travolta’s case, he started his career in the '70s – how many actors were out then? – and soon acquired such a valuable public persona that he might have been afraid to risk it, and then remained so out of habit and comfort-zone.

Were I not married, I would say I want to live in whatever magical world you live in where the everyday women are as hot as Halle Berry and Angelina Jolie. Because that’s a really special place.

Didn’t he play a mad bomber in The Taking of Pelham 123 remake?

Anyways, I figure,on the sliding scale, Travolta is not at the extreme heterosexual end, but somewhere closer to the bisexual middle. But I also believe he genuinely loves his wife. I really don’t care enough to speculate further.

Surely you saw The Boy in the Plastic Bubble…right?

As far as his sexuality, I don’t know and frankly it makes no difference to me whatsoever.

Yeah, it was definitely good. Definitely. Except I missed the last part because it was time for Jeopardy.

Because he’s a Scientogist.

Seriously. I get the idea that AJ is nowhere near as hot as her reputation. And even relatively unacttractive. But not as hot as the typical soccer mom? That’s bullshit. Even SLC soccer moms.

The story is kind of interesting not because of whatever sexuality Travolta is but because of the constant attacks on him, is that really what happens in Hollywood?

So like a straight star can expect constant and neverending blackmail attempts on being exposed as gay? Damn thats fucked up. Of course the proper response is to say who fucking cares and move on but whatever.

Eh - hotness is subjective. Personally, I don’t like super skinny women with small boobs - I prefer them plumper and bustier. Many soccer moms fit my ideal of attractive better than scrawny Hollywood starlets.
