He announced that he’s back on the 6 Clear Channel stations that had yanked his show several months ago. I didn’t hear why, since I had just gotten in my car mid-way through.
I don’t think he’s back on the Clear Channel stations, just back in those markets. Cnn gives the list as Pittsburgh, San Diego, West Palm Beach, Fla., Orlando, Fla., and Rochester, N.Y. And new stations in Houston, Austin, Tampa, and Fresno.
Oops, that’s what I meant to say. In fact, when Clear Channel dropped him, I was surprised that he was only on 6 CC stations.
Luckily, here in Albany, he’s on an Albany Broadcasting Station, so we didn’t miss him. Although, I haven’t listened nearly as much as I used to, since all he ever does is complain about censorship now.
I would think Stern would wind up being far better off on satellite. Don’t the satellite companies have no FCC regulation, other than the frequency regs?
He still has 18 months left on his current contract. He said (and has said in the past) that he will consider a move to satelite when the contract is up.
It was actually a very good press conference. He gave out a lot of information, and I’m really glad to hear that the people in the CC markets will be able to hear him again. CC is already suffering from removing his show - the ratings in San Diego went from being the number one channel in the area to having a .8 share of the market after they dropped him, and I imagine this’ll drop them a little further.
 . That’s like when people say “all he ever does is talk about strippers.”
Sorry if you tune in for the 20-30 minutes that he talks about strippers/midgets/censorship (or god forbid watch the E! show), but the show is 5+ hours long and those things are not “all he talks about.”
No one ever seems to remember that he has guests, takes calls, and does the news every single day, not to mention several comedy bits and games in between. It’s all strippers, midgets, and censorship.
Well, those things are all he talks about for the 20 minutes that I’m in my car and it’s been that way for months. Perhaps he chooses from 8:40 - 9:00 to talk about censorship.
Let me rephrase my post: “Although, I haven’t listened nearly as much as I used to, since all he ever does is complain about censorship from 8:40 - 9:00.”
Happy?
Maybe I’m a little sensitive today, but I don’t think my post warranted a  . Sheesh!
It was more directed at people who say “all Howard ever does is X” (usually misguided because they’ve only seen the E! show and never actually listened to him on the radio) than you personally.
He’s also said (one morning while I was listening) that he had looked into moving to XM, then did some math on how many current subscribers XM has, how many listeners he has, and how quickly XM can manufacture receiver units. The results did not leave him with a good impression.
