Anyone listen to Wolfmother?

Link. THey seem to be a rock trio from Sydney Australia.

Their debut album is set for release May 2nd.

My local rock station has been playing “Mother”, which completely hooked me. It’s a bouncy romp with a great beat, and screamy vocals. You can hear four of their tunes at www.myspace.com/wolfmother.

Some nice chords in the intro to the stupidly titled, “The White Unicorn”.

I think that immediately, they reminded me a little of White Stripes or Darkness, except with a little more seriousness given to the heavy metal aspect.

Anyway, cool sounding stuff, IMO.

I’ve also been enjoying the latest single by Buckcherry, “Crazy Bitch”. Any opinions on their latest album?

I think I posted about Wolfmother a week or three ago - nope, hold up that was the other great hard rock band I heard about via South by Southwest - Supagroup.

I love the Wolfmother I have heard - the song Woman just rocks hard. Channeling major Zep with a dose of Black Sabbath and the White Stripes and a tad of Jon Lord’s organ tone from Deep Purple. Great rockin’ stuff…

Yeah I have had the CD for a while now. Interesting piece here. Poor guys would have won Triple J’s hottest 100 if they hadn’t had so many songs nominated. Great band live.

It’s just coming out in the states on May 2nd. I love the organ in those tunes, too. I was hoping someone from Down Under would check in.

Hopefully, they’re not the next Silverchair. Haw haw haw haw haw.

Very hard to driii-iiink.

I like this bit from your link

That’s probably why I like them. I’ve always dug riff-driven rock. That’s why I was (still am?) such a Zeppelin, GnR, and AC/DC fan.

Trunk - I totally agree about loving riff-based rock. I can’t remember - do you know Supagroup? They sound like AC/DC’s lost album. The song Ready to Go should’ve been on Highway to Hell. Download a copy and you will thank me.

I haven’t heard them. I don’t download music, but I’ll check out the tune online.

Thanks.
