Anyone looking forward to Total War: Warhammer 3?

Skrag is supposedly a little easier. Up to you of course but I would go from easier to more difficult.

He definitely has a much better start position, and the option to kill Empire soldiers is very appealing. I think my decision is made!

Just looked at my achievements; I unlocked every Nurgle-specific achievement but one. Doing that now, then trying Ogres.

Did you forget to fart on someone?

Pretty much! Have to collect 5000 infections; I ended the campaign with about 3000 banked.

Sigh. I’d LOVE to play Warhammer 3. I love the universe, the ideas, the factions. But I’ve tried 2, and I’m just terrible at micromanaging the armies.

Not sure if this helps, but on any difficulty lower than Legendary you can pause or slow down time while still issuing orders

Hmm, good to know.

Also, it helps to learn to buy time with tar pit units (units that hold the enemy in place/slows them down).

Usually they are units like pikemen or halberdiers. They are cheap damage sponges meant to stop/slow an enemy’s movement forward (and some are better at it than others). Once they are locked in you don’t really need to think about them much. They just kinda stand there and fight away.

That gives you time to let ranged units do their work and then focus on flanking units (e.g. cavalry) to get around the sides and do their thing. Fewer things to stay focused on.

The initial setup and placement of your units on the map can count for a lot. And, of course, there are counters to units like mentioned above but those generally come later and after you have a feel for the game. It also teaches you that a balanced army of various units is usually better than relying too much on one unit (until late game and doomstacks).

Playing Ogres in a multiplayer campaign; they are a lot of fun. The camp mechanic is nice, and the growth rate is pretty insane. The first set of rifts just opened up, and I already have all Tier 5 units unlocked for recruitment. And money is no issue whatsoever.

Single-player, I just beat a Khorne campaign. Skarbrand is INSANE. He just utterly dominates every battlefield. For example, I attacked Altdorf (full garrison) with Karl Franz and a full army also garrisoned.

The battle plan:

  1. Arrange troops around the walls just out of tower range
  2. Send Skarbrand in.

Skarbrand knocks down a gate in seconds. He ran in and 3-shot-killed Karl Franz. Charged by two regiments of Reiksguard, I popped his Rage Incarnate to rampage them so they wouldn’t run, and he proceeded to make horse sausage. Use Skull Throne bloodletter summons if he is too busy to engage ranged units, otherwise he just charges handgunners/archers and chops them apart. He can (and does) easily single-handedly win a siege.

For ultimate hilarity, put him up against vampires. They have no answers at all. Skarbrand versus 4 vampire armies = Skarbrand with thousands of kills, and a nearly full health bar at the end. It’s ridiculous(ly fun).

Well, I finally scraped my self out of work;
to boot it up and look into stuff,
and found out there is now a 92 Gb patch waiting. before I can play.

LegendofTotalWar is one of my favorite Youtubers and I have been following his Warhammer 3 content from the beginning. He always plays on legendary difficulty so he encounters some issues that other players will not see in their campaigns (namely, AI cheats) and he counters these by cheesing the game to an extreme that some find distasteful. He’s also very blunt in his opinions, something that has gotten him in trouble in with CA in the past. But he knows these games inside and out and his videos are very informative.

IIRC CA cut him off completely at one point because he was getting too offensive. He has since applied some restraint knowing this was his livelihood and gotten back into CA’s good graces.

When it comes to cheesing the game he is very direct and honest about what he is doing. If you (general “you”) do not want to do it then don’t do it.

Certainly he knows the game as well as anyone I have seen.

Ah, a thread that has nothing to do with Ukraine and is about something I enjoy!

I bought the game in pre-order and have been playing it off and on since it was released. So far, it’s been ok, but I have to admit I don’t really like the campaign (I didn’t enjoy the one in TWHII either). I really like the complete world game with all the factions unlocked better. I also like my mods (I’m hoping RADIUS mods will be in once they open that up).

I have managed to play the Cathay faction to the last battle against the demon, but I’m having trouble beating him with what I have, especially the final wave. I’ve played the Kislev as well and the main Ogre faction, but not to the end. I haven’t played any of the demon races yet.

You may want to watch the video below. He cheeses the last battle but it is a way through. He is playing Nurgle but claims Nurgle is the weakest of the lot so you should be able to manage with any of the other legendary lords.

And, he starts the last battle with ONLY Ku’gath in his army.

I’ll definitely check it out, as so far I’ve tried twice and both times were a fail, though I did manage to kill the demon lord in both attempts. It’s just that after that I was overwhelmed.

Oof, just finished the campaign with Kislev (third finish now). I’m burnt the hell out on the Realms of Chaos campaign already; really hope Immortal Empires comes soon. Tomorrow I’m dipping my toes in multiplayer; I played one match yesterday that ended badly! My showing was pretty embarrassing.

ETA: I had a much harder time with Kislev than I did with Nurgle on the last battle. Actually took me two tries: second time around, I focused on desummoning/resummoning all of my main army before I went to capture the final point in the Forge; then I sent arranged my forces at the chokepoint around the SECOND point, and sent some cavalry up to capture the third point to start the countdown, forcing Be’lakor and his army to come to me (where I had all of my towers placed and Streltsi positioned); melted a large portion of his army before it even reached me, and used the resources gained from damage done to keep summoning in holding units for what eventually because a pretty solid blob-fight in the center. It wasn’t elegant, by any means, but it worked.

One good thing about multiplayer is they have really enhanced it from TWHII. You can have more than two players, and turns happen simultaneously, with the only interruption being if there is a battle.

I’m basically in the same place you are with the campaign. It’s boring and not much fun, and I’m really looking forward to them opening it up. I don’t know when Immortal Empires is scheduled to release, but it needs to happen soon as well as mod support to get me back interested. I actually started a TWHII campaign to get my fix.

Yes, I’m really enjoying the multiplayer campaigns; I think I’m going to start a head-to-head Disharmony campaign against my son and one of his friends tomorrow.
