Anyone lucky enough to snag the limited of Under the Dome (Stephen King's latest)?

$200, and I hear it sold out in five hours, either 500 or 1200 copies – I’m hearing both numbers, maybe neither are correct.

A slightly less special unsigned edition (25,000 copies) can be had for $75 through the publisher or discounted to $50 at Amazon. Amazon link.

What interests me most (in addition to the story, of course) is the cover art. Apparently the cover will be revealed in four parts, and it’s supposed to be different – not a hologram but something “layered”. This explains why we haven’t seen the real cover yet, just that boring purply thing.

Also interesting is that King has spoken up about comments that the story rips off The Simpsons Movie, but I haven’t heard him say anything about the similarities to Robert McCammon’s Stinger. Maybe the dome trapping residents of a town is the only similarity. ::shrug::

Whatever, the damn thing won’t be released until November 10, and I’m excited.

So did anyone get an order in for the signed limited? Tell me, so I can hate you. :stuck_out_tongue:

I never buy hardcovers of his books, but Amazon is selling it for $9 right now, so I’m sorely tempted…

I ordered the cheap limited but cancelled it – Christmas is coming and I don’t need another King limited sitting on a shelf waiting for me to die so my kids can check it out on eBay.

But I did buy two of the $9 copies. My daughter’s a huge King fan, and if she has her own copy, I won’t have to rush through it. Or worse, give it to her first.

It shipped today so it might be here Wednesday.

ETA: I’ve heard that the $200 limited is selling for $400 at Ebay.
