I met my first wife in a bar. I still love her dearly, but my current wife I didn’t meet in a bar and our relationship is much more solid.
I met my husband not only at a bar, but at a gothy nightclub. Neo, the one that the Wachowski brothers of *Matrix *fame supposedly spent way too much time at.
I’d suggest rewording this story when the kids ask how you met
Yeah, I did. We’ve been together since 1996, and our 6th year wedding anniversary is a week from today.
Note to self - STOP DRINKING!
The partner Slip and I met in a bar. And went home from that bar :D.
We’ve been together thirteen years.
My SO and I met at a bar and have been together ever since - 27 years now.
I met my first wife in a beach-side bar in Panama City, Florida. Not the love of my life, but it lasted long enough to be significant for the purpose of this thread.
I met my fella in a bar. We chatted for a while and then the band came on and I went to dance with my friends. I didn’t think that we’d see each other again.
Four hours later, when everyone was being ushered out of the band room, I ran into him again. He bought me a drink and kissed me, and we’ve been together ever since
Nov '90 I went to the bar my roomate worked at, celebrated my birthday and had a great time. Met a guy, danced, talked, drank and generally enjoyed each other’s company. We both drank a little too much to remember exactly who we had met.
Month or so later, roomate again drags me to her bar rather than leaving me home by myself. Introduces me to her favorite group of Marines, her “go to guys” when other patron were a little too enthusiastic in their attempts to pick her up.
Took my turn buying rounds, and had a lot of fun hanging with these 4-6 guys. So much so I was back the next weekend. And the next.
After about three months of hanging with this group of jugs, the quiet little but sarcastic one puzzled me. He, unlike the others, never had any interest in my help to meet any other girls at the bar. We started talking. Which progressed to phoning each other because just talking in the bar on the weekends wasn’t enough.
We started dating in Feb. We moved in together July '91. Married Dec "92. He forgives me my flaws and puts up with my crap. We’ve had some ups and some serious downs, but he is indeed, the love of my life and my best friend. (Love ya, TurboDog!)
We also discovered that we had met each other on that birthday celebration night a few weeks before in the same bar.
Heh, I had a girl last wed night tell me she’s way in to me and has been for years.
This completely floored me because I’ve always liked her too. I never acted upon it because well…to be frank… I thought she was out of my league. (in other words I was too chickenshit).
So we exchanged #'s and we’re going on our first date tonight. (yea! GO ME!!)
As far as meeting the love of my life? Well, I’ll have to get back with you on that.
(right now I’m doing the Snoopy Happy Dance on the inside)

**Yes; quite a few times, in fact.
