What do you think of it? I doubt anything can lure me away from a VW bug, but I think I am going to test drive one.
It looks like a Borg turd. Blech!

To each his own. I can’t stand the look of all the anon-cars: Sentras, Accords, and their ilk. I try to keep my dislike private, though, when I know someone else likes them. Guess I was just raised that way.
Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated. We will add your unique something something to our own.
I’d dread hearing the words “you now have 5 minutes to move your cube.”
My sister and BIL bought one this summer as part of the Cash for Clunkers frenzy.
They wanted something fuel-efficient and large enough to fit BIL, who is very tall.
They both think it has great visibility and like it (except for the color; they had no choice but scarlet, apparently).
I’ve only driven it once, and it was zippy. The seat was also at a nice height instead of being low (I usually drive a Civic). I thought the trunk space was really small, but my sister says they can fit a lot in.
I’ve never driven a Bug, so I can’t really compare.
For the record, I agree about the look-alike Nissans and Hondas. Not to mention high-end cars. I used to know a Jaguar when I saw one, now, not so much…

We rented one while on a recent trip to Arizona - and loved it. We normally drive an SUV, so we thought we would be put off by the size - but surprisingly, we didn’t even notice except getting in and out. The visibility was wonderful, the interior is very well thought out and the pickup is impressive - we drove from Tucson to the Grand Canyon and back through the mountains, and then up Mt. Lemon, and never felt under-powered or uncomfortable. The only reason we aren’t buying one ourselves is that the cargo room isn’t quite what we need day-to-day (between sports equipment and camping gear, we need room), and you can’t take it off-road. Overall, we loved it - and the friends we were staying with DID go out and buy one that weekend. The head room was especially good for tall people, and there is a lot of leg room in the back.

I was given the use of one for a couple days a few weeks ago as a loaner car and found the visibility atrocious, especially at the back corners. I normally back into my parking spot at work and in my driveway and found the visibility at the back corners to be lacking. My normal ride is a crossover with lousy rearward vision, the Cube was even worse.
And what’s with the piece of carpet on top the dash?
The visibility can’t be bad at both back corners - window wraps all the way around on one side.
That’s exactly what I was thinking–the passenger side back corner can’t be obscured. My test drive is tomrrow. I am looking forward to it.
I like the Cube’s looks a lot better than those of the KIA Soul or the Scion xB.
IMO, the KIA and Scion try too hard to look like mini-Hummers. And what’s with Toyota’s cheaping out and giving the xB only one back-up light? Make the windows smaller and take away lights–not my idea of improvement.
That back corner without outside structure is blacked out on the inside. In fact, the back door is hinged on that side. It is just as much a blind spot as the left side. On both sides, you have a blind spot about a foot wide.
racer72, sorry for doubting you. You are right–it looks like a window, but isn’t. That was a big drawback, as the visibility wasn’t as good as I hoped. It drove well, but not as well as the Beetle I drove. Honestly, it would have taken it being amazing to tempt me away from my beloved bug.
