Anyone play Crusader Kings 2 with the Game of Thrones mod?

Been playing the last couple of weekends. Really, really fun for big fans of the show/books. But it’s tough – very tough.

So far I’ve only played as Robb Stark from the “Clash of Kings” time period. Managed to hold out in the war until Stannis defeated the Lannisters, and then surrendered to Stannis – he pardoned me so I remained Lord of the North. Stayed safe and fought off various White Walker invasion for a few decades, with my primary mission being “have lots of kids and confirm the future for the Starks”.

But I started over and, with a bit of cheating, was able to do so much more. I won the war with the Lannisters and preserved independence for the King in the North (and the Riverlands). I captured and executed Joffrey. Someone else offed Tommen, so Myrcella took the throne, and I married her! Their firstborn son, Eddard Stark, inherited both kingdoms upon their slightly premature deaths. I re-conqured the Iron Islands to make the Seven Kingdoms united once again. Daenerys Targaryen rules a large swath of territory centered around Mereen, and married Quentyn Martell. At the same time, the Red Viper Oberyn Martell conqured an area north of Old Valyria, and styled himself the King of New Valyria. Daenerys and Quentyn had a son, Aeryn Targaryen, and at one point Dorne rebelled against me (King Eddard of the Iron Throne), announcing support for Aeryn. I put down the rebellion and the Targaryens went back to Mereen, while along with Dorne I gained dominion over New Valyria.

And, by the way, King Eddard, son of Robb, married Shiera Lannister, the dwarf daughter of Tyrion (who inherited the Lannister lands when Tywin died).

Now I’m thinking about gaining more territory in Essos, but I’m a little unsure of how to do so. I’ll have to wait until next weekend, as I don’t play games during the week.

Anyone else playing? Has anyone played as a Targaryen? I’m still not exactly sure how the dragons work.

Nobody? :frowning:

I’ve been meaning to try it since I’m interested in both of those things, but on the other hand I think the word daunting may have been created specifically to describe that kind of combination.

Not me, sorry. I’m a big fan of Crusader Kings II, but I have no interest in Game of Thrones. From what I’ve heard about GoT, it would fit well in the CK2 model.

I mostly just play with mine own home-brew mods.

Same thing here. I’m interested in comments about the game.

I’m very much enjoying it. I sometimes use the cheat codes, but obviously you don’t have to. You can play from just about any time period – all the way back to the first Targaryen King Aegon’s conquest of Westeros, up through all the major events of the Targaryen dynasty, including Robert’s Rebellion, and then the events of the books afterwards up to AFFC.

And you can play as pretty much any character, all the way down to minor lords. Possibly even as Hodor… though I’m not sure if there’s anything you can do as Hodor. Except Hodor.

Looks very fun, I had no idea there was a mod for this. I’ve had CK2 on my playlist and have only put a couple of hours into it, been very daunted by the learning curve. It sounds like this mod will be a lot of fun for learning the game.
