Anyone playing with their Wii? (pun intended)

Are you sure? I’ve checked the map numerous times throughout the game and saw him every time. Perhaps you weren’t zooming in on the province; as his icon won’t appear if you’re viewing the full map.

Yeah, I zoomed in trying to see exactly where in the section he was. Maybe this happens for some of them? Or perhaps it was a bug that he didn’t show for me.

Spoiler for the location of one of the wolves:

The one I had trouble with was the one in the desert. That’s a pretty big area so I was using the map to try to pin point where the wolf was.

Just a reminder to the other SDMB Wii-hunters that Target, Best Buy, GameStop, etc. are stockpiling their Wii consoles for the big Sunday-morning last-weekend-before-Christmas shopping spree. If you want a Wii, find a store and prepare to camp…

For those who have gotten a Wii there’s a replacement remote strap program. Personally, I have yet to lose the Wiimote when playing games; all the cases that I’ve heard of involved some improper use (really, the Wiimote isn’t meant to be hurled like a baseball). Still a free replacement strap for all my controllers isn’t something I’m going to pass up.

And as long as I’m posting to the thread, I picked up Elebits the other day and it gives me a lot of hope for quality shooters on the Wii. People using Red Steel as an example of why the controls won’t work right for a shooter or fighting game need to play this. I was hoping for for a light game of escalating destruction like Katamari Damacy and it turns out the game is actually relatively challenging. The concept is that you’re a kid with a gun that moves objects and you’re hunting for tiny energy beings called Elebits that have caused a power failure. As you catch them with the gun you get more energy to eventually turn on the lights, activate electrical appliances, or make the gun able to lift larger and larger loads. The catch is that the Elebits are hiding and so you have to slowly disassemble the map as you dig through things looking for the hiding Elebits. There’s quite a few puzzles around using the Wiimote to manipulate complicated objects (loading a DVD into a player and starting it, for example) built into the game.

Not only playing with it, but posting to the SDMB with it too!

Ya i d/led the browser this morning too. Its cool, but since the resolution is 480p at best it doesn’t make it very good as a general purpose internet browser. Its opera so I bet it plays flash games tho…

The web browser is nice. I especially like the dictionary which helps finish your words for you.
Posted from a Wii

The Wii has gotten my wife to do something she’s never done before – prompt me into playing video games with her (Wii Sports Tennis, specifically). That, alone, is worth the price of admission.

(Though watching my son go full-tilt spazz while bowling is good for grins, too  )

I finally picked one up today; I knew that I had the money left over from Christmas, and after pretty much giving up on finding a Wii before March I stopped by Target to check out the DS games and the electronics guy was unpacking a big box of Wiis.

I’m really digging Wii Sports - the games are shockingly fun for what are basically glorified tech demos - and I went ahead and ordered Zelda for $39.99 on Amazon. I’m really interested in picking up Elebits soon, and I want to get Warioware the second it comes out.

Love the system so far.

So, I got the Classic controller finally and played a couple of games I’d bought online…then I pitched in a Game Cube game to find: The Classic controller doesn’t appear to be compatible with gamecube games. (! :frowning: ) Is this true? Do I have to buy Yet Another Wireless Controller?

I have a cheapie $15 wired controller, but it don’t reach the couch and I’m too old to sit on the floor for very long.

Sadly, yes. I agree, there really is no reason for it, though it could presumably be fixed via a firmware update.

I would recommend renting Elebits instead of buying it. I rented it and was really glad I didn’t buy it because I didn’t like it. It was kind of boring and frustrating, and although the way you can progress during the levels and pick up bigger stuff is like Katamari Damacy, it’s nowhere near as fun.

I’d say the same for Rampage. It’s kinda fun, but the control scheme, and the replay value isn’t there.

Yes, indeedy. I got one. Quite pleased with it so far.
