A friend recalls a Japanese-style cartoon, not really anime’, from about the late 1980s-early 90s. It had the feel of a DiC/Andy Hayward production. A girl was in a forest, perhaps looking for someone or for a special red rose, as a song played which went something like…
At the appointed hour,
remember the red flower.
And so never fear
if you shed a tear.
Remember flower power.
Sound familiar?
I went through Hayward’s credits on IMDB with her, but nothing rang a bell as being that cartoon.
I read the wikipedia summary to a friend and she agreed that must be the story- as to the production, it doesn’t seem to be the one listed in the IMDB which is a Netherlands production, but rather the Nippon Animations/Saban Entertainment one in the anime link. Those ran on Nickelodeon in the late 80s-early 90s, which is where my friend recalled seeing it.
Alas, used videos of it start at $20 through Amazon’s dealers network. L
