I’ve been using the Logictech USB ClearChat wireless for a few months now, and like many others, the left ear phone is going out intermittently. Top it off with an absolutely lousy comfort level after 1-2 hours of usage and I’m getting pretty fed up.
I’m looking for a COMFORTABLE, padded headset with good mic/output/etc. quality (basically an all-around good headset). This seems like a very niche market for whatever reason. You either get the ear-piece models, or you get a wireless set of headphones which are very comfy, but no mic. Getting either together either jacks up the price expontentially or results in 3-4 being sold in all.
Any suggestions? No real budget set. I’d like to not exceed $150, but I will if it means I’ll get a good piece of equipment.
Looks like a decent price. Any sort of personal testimonial for that one?
I have a decently sized melon. One complaint I’ve had with even comfortable sets in the past was the fact that the adjustable hinges didn’t quite make it far enough to allow the cups to fully cover my ears.
Can you wear that for 3-4 hours at a time without having any discomfort?
Output/input quality? Battery life?
All things you can find online, but a personal testimonial always helps.
Unfortunately, that’s a deal-breaker for me. I’d use it extensively throughout the day and would not want to switch to another solution while they charge. The one I linked apparently can be used while charging, but I’m still open to ideas.
There really isn’t anything about it I don’t like. I regularly use mine for four to six hour game sessions; it is very light … easy to forget I have it on … don’t know how much longer than that the batteries might go.
While it’s not high-end recording studio quality, it is certainly adequate for listening to music; I play a bit of classical guitar so might have somewhat of a critical ear (though no audiophile) and this sounds far superior to the cheapo $15 types.
I also have a Plantronics telephone headset that I rarely use any more but used to wear it 8 hours a day. It has a better mic (it also cost 3 times as much) but this one is perfectly adequate for MagicJack telephone and online chat.
At the risk of sounding like some sort of fanboy, when I think of headsets made to wear all day, I think Plantronics are the pros. They have a lot of different models for different purposes and in a wide price range. You might want to have a look at their website to narrow down your requirements and then shop for price.
Ah … never thought of that. Hasn’t been a problem for me, though.
