Anyone remember a movie where a bologna was fired as a torpedo by mistake?

I think it was from the sixties, I thought either Don Knotts or Tim Conway was in it but I can’t find the movie on their IMDB pages. It might have been some other lunch meat like a salami or olive loaf but I think it was a bologna.

Does this ring a bell for anyone? Was it possibly a McHale’s Navy movie? I don’t think it was but I can barely remember this at all. I’m pretty sure it was in color and that is why I don’t think it was McHale’s Navy TV show.

There is a fairly good chance it was a Disney movie.

The Boatniks.

That was it, thank you.

Funny my wife says she actually saw it in the Drive-In but didn’t remember the bolagna scene.

It’s a classic. Aaaand now I’m going to have the theme song to McHale’s Navy running through my head all day.

Although this has been answered, it also reminded of the movie “Zapped” (1982), in which Lawanda Page fires salamis at Scatman Crothers thru a bazooka.

I love imagining that they did several takes of that scene, using bologna, salami, olive loaf, head cheese, mortadella, Canadian bacon, provolone, etc, etc, …

But it was bologna.

And I don’t think Conway or Knotts were in it, but I want to believe that Joe Flynn, Dean Jones, and maybe Stephanie Powers were.

Better go check imdb.

Welp, three strikes for me, I guess. Phil Silvers, not Flynn; Robert Morse, not Jones; and I misspelled Ms Powers’s first name. Stefanie.

When I saw Silvers’ name my first thought was “Oh, was this movie a spin-off of the T.V. show that had Silvers in the Navy?”

:smack: Of course not. Bilko was in the Army, not the Navy.

The Hunt for Red Cocktober.

Didn’t Mythbusters shoot off a rocket fueled with a salami?

In Operation Petticoat, they fired women’s undergarments out of the bow tubes. Surely a salami was involved somewhere that led up to that predicament.

Now that movie, I love. Fun movie with Cary Grant as the Captain of a crappy sub and Tony Curtis as the scrounger. Gavin MacLeod was even in it, he did a lot of military and boat parts in his career. As he was in McHale’s Navy and of course Kelly’s Heroes. He then got promoted to Captain as a civilian on the Love Boat.

The TV show of Operation Petticoat had Tony’s daughter Jamie Lee Curtis as one of the nurses, that is about all I can remember from the show though.

I remember very little more: John Astin played the CO.
