Anyone remember Chicago-based writer Gary Deeb?

I was familiar with his column when it appeared in the Sunday newspaper Entertainment/TV Weekly supplement. Very acerbic, sarcastic tone as I recall, but as much as I enjoyed his columns, I can recall only two things:

He would refer to Ron Hendren (then one of the hosts of ‘Entertainment Tonight’) as a ‘pod person.’

And. . .

He had a column about a cigarette documentary, which sounded interesting at the time. It’s available on youtube called Death in the West. I didn’t find it particularly groundbreaking in this day and age, but things were different once upon a time.

If you watch the doc, take note of the ages of the Marlboro Men. Personally, I would have guessed higher.
