“Be holy, re-scrolly!”
Sorry, I read that right after I posted. D’oh!
Grapho.
I thought it looked like Vincent Price after sticking his fingers in a power outlet.
Very disappointing. The devil only showed up once! Except for the snake, which was weak. No minions, no eeeeevilness. Just an evil sparkly ring on the megachurch guys finger. Does that mean it’s a sin to wear a diamond?
Of course it is! We all know that diamonds are a girls best friend. It was a woman that started the fall of man (tempted by the serpent and all) Therefore, diamonds are symbolic of the fall of man and original sin and wearing more than one demonstrates that you are actually more sinful than others.
heh, not bad for having a massive sinus headache.
Y’know, this tract was pretty mellow.
The saved guy actually spent his time trying to help people. Sure, he probably blathered on and on about getting saved to them, but at least he wasn’t just sitting on his ass depending on his faith to save him.
And the hypocritical megachurch preacher? Wow, nice to know that not everyone who says, “Lord, Lord” will enter heaven. Still, not exactly a controversial message.
There wasn’t anything really deranged, sick, twisted, or evil about this tract. Stupid yes, but where’s the evil? Where’s the gay subtext? Where’s the hate?
I give it a 4. Chick’s really fallen off from his “Death Cookie” and “Dark Dungeons” days.
Well, it’s subtle, but I think it’s hinted at with the remarks that hypocritical megachurch preacher Charlie “preaches love” and “never preached against sin”. I bet that indictment includes “insufficiently tough on homosexuality”, although of course Charlie himself is apparently pretty hetero.
(Speaking of which, I love how “the Lord knew that Charlie was living with wife no. 4…” I had thought that wasn’t the kind of thing you needed divine omniscience to find out, although I suppose the subsequent detail about his extramarital affair might be.)
Actually, I rather enjoy the quieter, more moderate tracts where the lunacy doesn’t blast forth in an overwhelming barrage but just gently shines through the details. Think of them as the pastoral parts of the great Chick Tract symphony.
I much prefer this tract.
