Anyone seen Crosby Stills and Nash recently?

I’ve got tickets to see them this Wednesday, and I’m just curious how they sound these days. I imagine that they must still be able to harmonize as they used to, or they’d have an awfully hard time selling tours successfully. What should I expect?

I saw them last August. Having grown up listening to them, but never having seen them live, I was amazed at how well they were still able to harmonize. Even on songs like “Deja Vu” … it sounded like I was listening to them on a CD as far as the voices went. Pretty cool.

Rule of thumb is that you get what you pay for.

I saw the group “America” here in Las Vegas at a local’s casino, for free…and for good reason. Ouch. Double ouch. If they had charged money, the audience would have stormed the stage with torches.

I think most booking agents and theatrical producers know what they are getting themselves into. They are not going to be selling $200 seats to a show of voice cracking has-beens. That doesn’t mean a specific concert couldn’t suck (too much booze in the artist, bad cold day, flu, druggie string out) but for the most part, the performing artist is at least capable of pulling it off on a good day.

And on a personal note, a friend went to see CS&N on their most recent tour and said they were great!

Why? Did you lose them?

I saw them a couple times in the past few years and they were AWESOME!!! (Once with Neil Young too.) Damn, I am so glad all those guys are still alive.

I have seen CS&N and Y solo several times over the years. CSN was pretty sucky during much of the 80s due to C’s problems. But they got better in the 90s. Nice but not great. Finally saw CSN&Y together for the first time like 3 years ago. Most excellent. Much better with the Y.
