Anyone still not watching Survivor?

No and I didn’t watch the first one either.

I put Survivor and its ilk right up there with that glurg you get via e-mail (you know, the ones that start “Get your kleenex…!”

Ech!

Me neither. I don’t understand the appeal. It’s like life in the corporate world but without the deli next door and the nearby Starbucks.

Until I read the OP, I didn’t know what day it was on. I never saw any of the first one, and this one seems to conflict with the NYC Dopers Bar Fly night, so I think I’m safe.

Honestly, I don’t see the appeal of these shows. But I guess I’m impressed with the person who did figure out that many people would want to watch, because I bet he’s laughing all the way to the bank.

Not interested in the least, don’t care. I’ve never watched WWTBAM? either, and have no intention to.

I tried to watch it during the first season…I ended up turning it off because I had NO interest in it at all. It was overly dramatic and just plain dumb.

Wow. I thought I was the only one not watching it. I was apathetic towards Survivor at first, but it’s overwhelming popularity promplty made me hate the show. It’s everywhere and I can’t escape (not ex-cape) it. I don’t want to watch it, and I dont want to discuss my theories regarding it!

I mean, EXACTLY what she said. Apparently, we were separated at birth.

I watched half of one episode of the original Survivor. That was more than enough.

I’ve never seen an episode and I’m mighty damn proud of that fact, too!

I didn’t see any of the first one, and virtually none of the 2nd. Soap operas don’t intrest me in the day, why should they intrest me at night?

I refuse to watch anything on tv, except the Simpsons and football.

“Reality-based” programming isn’t.

Cable is all owned by two guys who wants to either pipe MTV or VH1 down your throat(depending on your age) or tell you how to fix something/fix a dinner/fix a relationship. Nickolodeon used to have good cartoons, but now they suck. (God I miss Rocko and Ren & Stimpy).

Network television is all (lemme properly word this) wanna-be rehashed rehash, but it can’t even live up to that. And the news is too depressing to watch.

grrr…

Haven’t seen it. I already have my own reality-based program, it is called “Surviving on 23k a year.” That is exciting enough for me. I am a member of the “Poorboy” tribe, and if I lose my job, I get voted off the apartment complex.

Still not. I watched about 15 minutes of one of last years episodes, enough to figure out that it was nothing like ‘Outward Bound’ and everything like staged BS. What crap.

It would be far more exciting to drop these actors (real people? Right. They read for the part like the working pros do) in the middle of nowhere with 20 matches, a knife, a compass, and a whistle. See how far politics gets you when you are eating bugs because of hunger pangs.

Better yet, drop the producers off in the middle of nowhere with no communications. If they make it back to the car in a week, fine. If not, oh well. Everybody wins.

Like many others, I have absolutely no interest in any of the “reality” based shows. I have not and will not watch any of them if I have a choice. I also don’t watch any gameshows other than the occasional “Rock & Roll Jeopardy.”

We watch a lot of tv in our house, always in the evening, my wife and I. But there’s some strange unspoken rule: we never watch a show that we haven’t seen during a season. Maybe flip-to-during-commercials, but never more than the 2 minute allotment. Strange? Yes. This is why we still have never watched <GASP> X-files, and never will. I love science-fiction, but don’t want to be lost with the lead characters soap-opera.

Back to the thread: No. We haven’t seen ANY reality shows, really.
If you’ve never seen something, you’re not missing it.

I’m damned proud of the fact that I’ve not watched a moment of any “reality” shows since the second season of MTV’s The Real World.

Hell, I don’t even watch Cops!

Nope, never seen either the original Survivor or Survivor II. The last fifteen minutes of the last episode of the original were on at the bar where I was at the time, but the sound was off, I was pretty plastered (it was $1.50 Guinness night), & I wasn’t paying attention.

RickJay, I would DEFINITELY watch “Eat Bugs for Money”. I would even volunteer to be a contestant!! Now THAT’S the kind of reality programming that’s really interesting.

haven’t watched a minute of any of those shows, couldn’t even tell you what channel they’re on.

Never saw any of them, never cared to. I’d definitely be interested in “The Real Survivor,” tho.

I have peasant tv so my tv is limited to what I get on 5 channels plus the French channel (which I don’t watch since I barely understand a word)

I never watched the first Survivor nor am I watching the second. I did see Who Wants to Marry a Multi Millionaire but that was to laugh at the women. I also watched a few episodes of Big Brother but not many. My brother wanted to watch it for some strange reason so I did see it a couple of times. I’ve also watched the Mole twice when I remember its on… maybe I’ll watch it tonight I dunno. Mainly I watch the news, sometimes Oprah, Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, interesting TV movies (ie the Marilyn Bell story on last Sunday) and Who Wants to be a Millionaire cuz my Grandparents love to watch it so I sit and read and answer the questions at the same time.

Survivor? NO WAY! The ONLY reality based show I would ever watch (and currently DO watch) is “Millionaire” – but only because it’s mentally challenging. Most reality shows are too much of just that – I generally watch TV as an escape from my everyday world, and don’t need more of the same.

Never saw Survivor one, don’t want to see Survivor two, don’t care if there is ever another one. (I’ve had the commercials inflicted on me, but I try to avert my eyes when they’re on.)
