Anyone tried RYZE?

I’ve cut way down on my Pepsi consumption so I’m interested in some kind of morning drink so I don’t start out the day with little bit of Pepsi I still drink. I hate the flavor and smell of coffee, can tolerate the flavor of tea but never feel like having any, don’t like malt and fermented beverages. I’m not that optimistic about RYZE but it seems to be trendy so my wife will probably drink any left over if spit out the first sip so it won’t all be wasted.

I don’t know anything about RYZE except that it’s made from mushroom and people paid to be in the commercials act like they like it.

So… anybody tried this stuff?

It seems hideous to me, but I don’t like coffee and loathe mushrooms. No way would I try it.

My wife seemed to like it though.

Mrs Cheesesteak like the RYZE coffee and melatonin infused hot cocoa. The cocoa is nice, tastes the way cocoa is supposed to. I haven’t tried the coffee personally, though.

I’d suggest that if you hate coffee, you’ll also hate instant coffee mixed with mushrooms, even in the best case scenario of the mushrooms being mostly inert tasting.

First, I assume you realize that coffee is the 2nd ingredient. I assume that is to give it a flavor that is familiar to most people, and apparently for all the caffeine that the drink has. It also contains MCT oil (medium-chain triglycerides, reportedly easier to digest than long-chain triglycerides) and coconut milk. So a fair amount of fat calories along with coffee flavor. The only reason I can see to drink this is a) you like coffee, b) you want the alleged extra benefits you get from consuming mushroom products on a regular basis, and c) you don’t mind the added fat. The cost seems pretty reasonable, I guess, 30 servings is normally $36 or $1.20 each. If their photos represent one serving, that would be probably 6 to 8 ounces.

No, I haven’t tried it, I don’t like coffee either.

The commercials seem to imply it is magic mushrooms.

Thanks everyone. I saw blurbs about a ‘coffee forward flavor’ but was trying to avoid conclusions based on random online reports. Deeper searching reveals many statements that the stuff tastes like coffee, and those who dislike coffee and tried RYZE heavily lean toward the dislike RYZE side.

I asked my wife if she wanted to try it and even though she likes coffee she made a face. So I guess that’s it. Not gonna be any RYZE around here.

They give a little bit of that impression, but they make it seem uncool anyway.

This is so very sad.

Life would have been much easier if I liked coffee the way normal people do. I can say that about a lot of the facets of my life.

Could be worse, you could be like me: I love the smell of coffee and hate the flavor. So whenever I smell it, I kind of want it, even though I know I hate it. It’s mildly infuriating.

I like mocha-flavored stuff, and things like lattes and frappuccinos can be good. What they all have in common is that there are other things covering up the coffee flavor.

I feel like coffee is a method of getting caffeine into a person, and people put up with the awful bitter taste to get the drug. But there are ways to get caffeine without having to taste coffee.

Decaf coffee makes about as much sense as dehydrated water.

Decaf coffee is bad tasting brown water.

I have been drinking Crio Bru for years now. I still drink coffee but alternate with Crio Bru and stick to it in the evenings. It is roughly equivalent to decaf.

What is Crio Bru Brewed Cacao?

IT’S NOT COFFEE | IT’S CACAO: Roasted, ground, and brewed like coffee, Crio Bru Brewed Cacao has flavor and aroma of unsweetened pure dark chocolate. Instead of coffee bean grounds, it’s 100% pure ground cacao.

How do I drink it?

Brew it in your French press or coffee maker, and your kitchen will have the aroma of pure dark chocolate heaven in no time.

Sounds interesting. Has some caffeine. According to some guy name Al it’s got another stimulant called theobromine also. Seems like it will be very bitter and need some sweetening. I’ll give it a try I think. We have some kind of coffee making machine here I think.

Same here!

I can understand the frustration you both feel.

No particular foods smell good while tasting bad to me but there are foods that smell and taste good to me but don’t settle well in my stomach so I have to avoid them.

Have you considered Zevia diet cola? It tastes a little different than Pepsi or Coke, but is still enjoyable to drink. Uses Stevia for sweetening, has zero calories, does have some caffeine, no sodium (important for me), and uses natural ingredients. I’m not a big “natural foods” person, but my GI doctor recommended switching to Zevia from Diet Coke.

J.

I don’t drink coffee, don’t like the smell, don’t like the flavor, probably would have been forced out of the navy as a heretic.

But I love collecting coffee mugs. Go figure.

I own many mugs and never drink coffee out of them.

They’re hot cocoa mugs.

I haven’t tried that one in particular. Artificial sweeteners haven’t worked out well for me. They end up with me craving sugar and starches, and anything cola flavored will leave me wanting more.
