My wife bought herself a copy off of ebay for x-mas. Said it was her favorite game as a kid. The whole family played a game yesterday and it was a hoot! Kept everyone’s interest, but not so involving that you couldn’t have fun while playing. And was done in under an hour. Any other fans of this game?
Anyone else recently purchase any board games from their childhood? How did they hold up over time?
We used to have Masterpiece when I was a kid, but I don’t remember much about it, except for the paintings that were reproduced on the cards. I clearly remember the Rembrandt, the Pollack, and the Rothko. I’m not sure we ever even played it, actually.
My wife said she always had trouble getting her friends to play it with her.
Reading the instructions, I’m not surprised. I’ll post an example or 2 when I get home, but the vocabulary and grammar sure don’t seem aimed at inspiring “FUN!” to the average pre-teen.
One thing kinda neat (at least as a lifelong Chicagoan) is that all of the paintings are from the Art Institute’s collection.
What a coincidence! We resurrected a couple of board games and played them over Christmas. Masterpiece was one. The other was Totopoly.
