Had a thought talking with another doper t’other day. Before it dies of lonleyness, I thought I’d post it. Doing a concert with y’all would be a blast. Looking at the concerts coming to this area, it occured to me that Eddie From Ohio would be a good choice. Not everyone would want to see, say, Metalica OR Barry Manilow, and something big like U2 would be almost impossible to get tickets to, not to mention out of some people’s price range. EFO plays folk type music, good for the whole family, so bring the kids! They are playing at Wolf Trap, July 27th. Lawn seats are only $18, and we could all sit together on the lawn. Geobabe works at the Trap, and tells me there is a smaller entrance that almost nobody uses at the foot of the lawn, so we could get in and down front before the lawn rush from the main entrance. I think it would be great fun. Anyone interested?
Sounds like a good idea, and Wolf Trap is an optimal location.
But, I refuse to see EFO. My friends played a few shows with them last fall here and in Philly and EFO did some really dickish things to them, such as limiting their stage time and restricting promotion. In other words, things that Metallica and U2 can get away with.
Next Tuesday night, the 19th, Dar Williams is opening for the Cowboy Junkies at Wolf Trap. I’d like to go see that one, especially if anyone else would like to come along.
Actually, I was thinking of making a run down that way on August 3. They’re showing Bugs Bunny cartoons with live accompaniment by the National Symphony Orchestra.
