Anyone wanna see and/or critique my art?

Panda looks very frightened.
I like your work.

Blue Flowers is very cute.
Untitled 2 looks like knitting, too me. ( Which I like even more.)
Monkey’s is charming.

The food related ones and the stuffed toy ones you could make copies of and sell on Etsy

Thanks everyone! I’ll look into the tshirts and prints idea. And try to get a portfolio together. The thing is that this is my hobby- it’s the way I relax after coming home from my engineering job. So it’s tough for me to get the energy up for the selling part. But after the holidays I’m going to try to take a weekend and spend it getting things organized and look into that stuff. I am definitely going to try to find a better camera and take better pictures and set up my own website rather than just having them on flickr.

I do really like the look of screen printing. I actually did take a class on that one time and know how to do it reasonably well. But I just really like sitting down with my canvas and paint. And some of them have a little depth to them with the paint that I like that you can’t really see in a photo but you can in real life. Maybe if I move to somewhere with more room I could set up a place for printing.

Thanks again everyone! Y’all have given me a lot to think about both artistic-wise and selling-wise. And I will definitely let you know if/when I ever stop being lazy and start selling my work.

Sam, an old hippy-dippy art student and dilettante weekend painter here. Let me suggest that you high yourself over to the Wet Canvas web board. Lots of artists of all sorts and mediums over there, professionals, teachers, talented armatures and not so talented armatures. You will get a chance to show your stuff, see other peoples’ stuff and get kind-hearted critiques and comments.

I would buy a print of eclipse.

I too remember your old thread and you can see an improvement. Keep it up.

Love the deceptive simplicity, the general design structure, and especially the sense of playfulness. When depicting a recognizable object such as the bears, there’s a need for a more lifelike feel to them.
That single caveat aside, I’d gladly hang some of these on my walls, particularly the highway landscapes.

So I know less than nothing about art but I feel compelled to comment anyway.

I really like Castle, Untitled, Untitled 2, Beach, City, Night Sky, Mars and Street Corner. I’ve don’t care much for hanging stuff on a wall in a house but, if I had a place of my own, I’d display these.

The cliff, hazy sky and water in Castle are great. I love that type of atmosphere and locations and the picture seems to capture that while keeping everything really simple. I don’t care much for the little castle on the left though.

No idea what Untitled is supposed to be but it looks nice.

I don’t know what Untitled 2 is supposed to be either but it reminds me of small stones you’d find near a river.

Beach is similar to Castle and I like it for the same reasons. But just like not wanting the castle in Castle, I would like Beach a lot more if it didn’t have that bottle. Not only does it seem out of place, it reminds me of how polluted the beaches are.

Night Sky is great and unlike the bottle and castle, I don’t mind the cat.

Mars is kind of cool I guess.

Street Corner looks nice. I like the grays. It also looks like something I might be able to draw it if I tried (looks like it but if I tried, I’d fail).

I’m neutral about Warning. I like the hand shadow wolf and the sense of urgency in the stick figure as he runs away from the wolf.

Your favorite, Tree at Night isn’t bad. I would have liked it if the tree didn’t have the red in it. What’s that red supposed to be anyway?

Shark, Terrier, Bird, Bear and Monkeys just seem like a super simple animal drawing on a solid background. Kind of boring.

Don’t get the point of Game.

I think I would have liked Points if the points went all the way through the picture.

And again, I don’t know shit about art but these are pretty cool.
Oh, I only looked at the first page.

Thanks for everyone’s input, both the artists and non-artists.

Wow, I just checked out Wet Canvas and it looks like a good board. That will be very helpful.

Thanks! I’m gonna look into prints.

Thanks, I really like the highway landscapes too. I need to go back and do some more of those.

I appreciate the non-artists chiming in too. It’s interesting to hear different people’s perspectives.

That’s interesting you say the same thing about Beach as moejoe. I might try to do more just landscapes without the details. Or work at making the details better so they don’t bring the painting down.

It’s supposed to be a tree on fire. It’s improved over previous tries to do somthing similar, but I see that it’s still not quite realized. I guess that’s why I’m proud of it, even though it’s not the best.

This is a great example of how subjective art is - I love that painting, and I love the red in it. It turns it from a nice little picture into something that I could hang on my wall and endlessly wonder about what that red stuff is and why it’s so evocative.

panda gets no respect

It’s like the mona lisa – frightened boxed-in panda, or cute timid “hello there” pink-party whimsy panda? First amendment right panda symbolically imprisoned by Chinese reds panda, or “I am just a panda and I have no conscious awareness of what my gesture is being interpreted as or why I find myself in this pink room being stared at from meta-land” panda?

looks like a happy enough panda to me btw

This is a bump to say that I have started a website to sell my paintings. The thread about my website is here.
