Anyone want to get back into Diablo 3? New season/fresh start on 4/10

Wait, so we’ll now be able to use legendary affixes without actually using the corresponding item? That would do some amazing things with a lot of items that are currently second-best for their slot, or for items that you’d really like to use except that they compete with a needed set piece.

Yes. There was further clarification and it seems you can equip three of these new passives - one weapon passive, one armor and one jewelry. Character powerlevels are going up again. a lot.

I’ve been enjoying D3 on the PS4; I wonder if these changes will get rolled to there, because the new Horadric Cube-alike seems really cool.

I’m at work right now so I don’t have access to Diablo itself but I believe that the ID is the same across all of Bnet. If so, my ID (taken from Hearthstone on my phone) is Deser2#1174. Whoever would like to, please feel free to add me.

I came back after a LOOOOOONG break (still had the real money auction house when I stopped playing) and went back to my L60 DH. After a couple weeks of playing lots and lots and lots I now have her up to L70 Paragon L220 (did I mention LOTS of playing the past couple weeks?). I’m actually enjoying the Adventure Mode/Rifts WAY more than the original game.

Ended up with a full set of Marauders, Unhallowed Essence set and 5/6 Natalya’s set. Ran the Marauders for a while and hit a wall at around GR30. Tried UE and didn’t like it. Now I’m running Nats (with the crashing beast belt) and it in beastly (no pun intended…ok maybe a little). I was able to clear a 33 or 34 before work this morning and I think only 1 piece is ancient. I also need the last piece so I can switch out my RoRG and use my Focus and Restraint Rings that I just got. I think once I switch those out, even without the ancients, I can push to the high 30s at least.

Also, SenorBeef - when I first started cashing in shards I had luck like you - got about 5 or 6 specific items I was looking for in my first attempt. Believe me, it changes vastly. Last night I just spend 800 shards trying for the Nat Glove. Out of the 32+ gloves I gambled on MAYBE 2 legendaries and 1 set which was one I already had. Hope your luck holds up better than mine though. Also with regards to difficulty, I’ll echo what was already said about the higher rifts but in addition, the new patch is adding 4 more difficulty levels which will take it up to Torment X. I believe I read that the difference between VI and X scales similarly to the difference between I and VI. So if Rifts aren’t your thing, you can def get your difficulty fix once the patch is released.

PS4 and Xbox One get the same stuff as PC, AFAIK. All this stuff isn’t coming yet anyways, we’ll have to wait until August or so.

So Season 3 is drawing to a close (ends in US on 8/23), then there’s a few days break before Season 4. Still no word on 2.3.0 but it wouldn’t surprise me if it drops between S3 and S4. It would be strange to talk it up so much and then not release it in time for S4, or to release it in the middle of S4.

I got back into Diablo a few weeks ago, as I was introducing my fiancee to it. Now she’s hooked as well, and we’ve been having fun with the rifts. We’ve been playing with Torus and Rucksinator mostly.

I’ve been enjoying my Wizard and DH the most, but I made a Crusader for S3 and it was enjoyable. Kind of boring compared to the other two, but a superb tank for my fiancee’s squishy Wizard. Tried another WD as well, but it’s just not clicking with me; most of the skills seem useless and/or stupid. I’ll probably try a Barb for S4.

Who is planning on joining in on Season 4?

I’m looking forward to trying that new Cube thingy. Among other benefits, it looks like it’s a good way to make use of low-leveled legendaries.

I’m not looking forward to having to yet again delete a character to make room for the new season. It’d be nice if they’d give us a way to put characters into “cold storage” to make more room. Or just give us a bottomless stash so we wouldn’t have to keep mules.

2.3.0 patch is supposed to hit when (or just before) S4 starts, I thought that was clear? I’m most likely coming back for S4 as I said two months ago, see you guys then.

When oft wears hats plays a Crusader, he’s just so…strong…and manly

I also made a Demon Hunter, which I’m enjoying a lot. I named her ShootyBamBam. :stuck_out_tongue: The Wizard is better equipped, though, with access to three or four partially completed sets, and so she gets more of my play time.

S3 ended so there’s 29 days left until all your seasonal stuff vanishes into the void. I did some housekeeping and stuffing crap legendaries on a mule but it was so boring I couldn’t finish it … just like how my RL cleaning tends to end.

Apparently tomorrow’s patch will introduce something that will let you crunch down legendaries but let you keep and equip the affixes, but I’m not exactly sure how that works…oft wears hats would probably be able to tell you more.

Yes, there’ll be a new cube that does that. I’ve mentioned it before in this thread, but can use up to three extra legendary affixes - one weapon, one armor and one jewelry. The cubed stuff work for all your characters* on that account with the usual HC/non-HC and off-season/seasonal dividers.

*assuming they are a class that can use the base item

Patch hits on Tuesday and new season starts on Friday so there’s some extra time to see how it works before S4.

Looking forward to the new cube! I want to use the Nagelring affix on everybody!

Nagelring is the one that gives you fallen maniacs, right? You can already use that on everyone: Just put it on your follower.

Neat! But is their damage based on yours or your follower’s?

I think, though I may be mistaken, that Nagelring is one of the few effects that doesn’t depend on your damage at all. In fact, I don’t think the other minion-items (Maximus, Genzaniku, and the angel one) depend on your damage either, but in their case the damage is too low to matter anyway.

Nagelring on a follower does pitiful damage, I’ve tried it.

I took a couple weeks off from playing to binge watch Game of Thrones, but I’m back and I’ve been playing for a few hours.

On T6 (should have bumped it, I suppose) I’ve done 3 bounty runs. On one of the last ones I ran into 2** bandit shrines. Those are kinda like when you run into a mob of goblins, except that you can call your friends down before engaging them.

At T6 each bounty run has given me 6 craft mats from that level (3 from cache, 3 from bonus cache). Two more bounty runs and I can start salvaging legs for their legendary powers, which is what I should have done before trying a Grift.

What legendary power to use? I suspect many builds will use the RRG power and add another set ring. However, I bet most will add another immunity from amulets like Julia’s (arcane), Mara’s (poison), etc… To be immune to 2 would be divine.

What weapon and what armor’s power do y’all think? Should I summon a demonic slave or Fallen Lunatics or ghostly Fallen Champion or herd of murderous cows? The belt that doubles your dmg after opening a chest was once the item to have. Ice Climbers give immunity to freeze, but not necessarily cold damage. What about the Reaper’s Wraps resource generation?

So many decisions.

For weapon Furnace is the boring but safe bet that works for every class. Armor bonus is more interesting since there’s no one overpowered and mandatory choice, and with jewelry there’s all sorts of valid choices as well: RoRG, immunity amulets, Unity when soloing, CoElements.

Scuttlebutt on the D3 forums indicate the Fallen Lunatic explosion damage is based on 10000% weapon damage. Four of the little buggers will kill just about any boss in the game that doesn’t have staged health.
