Seems that they show things tnat quite a few of us Dopers have experienced.
My wife and I are definitely addicted to “Airline”, though we didn’t care for the Euro version that aired last night. My favorite is that psycho lady who changes on the airport and hits on the rocket scientist. I wonder how this has affected Southwest’s sales.? They seem like a great company but there have definitely been some bad decisions made on the part of the airline (not buying tickets on other airlines and the such).
Love the show! I haven’t seen last night’s Euro version yet (so very carefully didn’t read the post about it), but I have a friend who works as an airline counter/gate person who assures me that this stuff happens *every[i/] day. (He loves the show – I guess watching other airline personnel suffer what he goes through is fun or something!)
The British version, featuring EasyJet, certainly hasn’t harmed their public profile or sales. Not surprising, given that it constantly shows employees putting up with moronic, offensive and even violent behaviour without retalliating as they no doubt would like to.
Me! There’s only so many obnoxious people I can stand, so sometimes I can’t bear to watch a whole episode. However, there have been some great moments. I loved the guy in the tiger suit! And who knew that they take guide dogs out to poop on the apron?
I flew SWA to Baltimore a few weeks ago, and on the way back we saw that they had a big sign at the Baltimore airport. It said that by entering the check-in line, you authorize the company to use your image on the show (unless you specify otherwise to the check-in folks). However, despite the fact that we were flying with an adorable 11 week old, they did not film us.
