Anyone watching Grace and Frankie?

Last night I watched the first 5 episodes and generally liked it. It seems to happen in a universe where people are much more accepting, forgiving and mature than the one I live in. I’m not at all buying Martin Sheen and Sam Waterston as a loving couple. Grace and Frankie seem more romantically fit and they barely like each other. Still, I’m enjoying this series so far. I do have some questions though.

Why are Frankie and Grace living together at the beach house? Frankie says she wants her house that she and Sam Waterston lived in, Grace wants the beach house and the new couple moved in together in the remaining house. Did I miss something?

Martin Sheen and Sam Waterston are business partners, correct? Is it a law firm? Sheen is a lawyer but is Waterston? Does Waterston’s black son work there too?

Was that Martin Sheen’s sister who jettisoned Jane Fonda at the funeral? Jane’s daughter with the kids is not Rachel McAdams, right?

I did do a search for this show but nothing came up. I hope I’m not the only one watching.

Oh man, S1? I’m not sure I remember everything.

Lessee. Grace doesn’t like her ‘house’ but she’s always loved the beach house so she wants to live there. I think Frankie is just too extroverted to be ‘alone’ in her house so she stays at the beach house with Grace. I think she also explicitly likes Grace more than Grace admits she likes Frankie and just wants to be buds.

Sol (Waterston) and Robert (Sheen) own a law firm together that specializes in divorce and they are both divorce lawyers. Bud (Baron Vaughn) works for them, also as a divorce lawyer. Coyote (Ethan Embry) is Frankie’s other son and he’s a substitute teacher.

Yes, Lydia is Rob’s sister. She is incredibly unimportant. I don’t think we ever see her again. It took me like 5 minutes to remember who she was and what she said and did in the episode. Mallory (Brooklyn Decker) is the daughter with 3 4? kids. Brianna (June Diane Raphael) is Grace’s daughter who now runs Say Grace.

I kind of love Grace and Frankie. I’ve binged every season within a week of them being released.

I’ve seen a few episodes, I enjoyed it, but just never got around to keeping up with it. Wasn’t it a situation where the one husband, although things were supposed to be amiable ended up taking everything but the beach house? I don’t really recall. I got the impression as completely different as Grace and Frankie are, they bond over the “loss” of their husbands, who I think are both partners in the firm. Anyway, they bond and grieve, and get shit faced drunk together. For years, they only had to pretend to tolerate one another at events. I don’t know what, if any role the son has at the firm. Sorry, not too helpful, but it is a good show.

Yeah, I’m only 6 episodes in and am really enjoying it. Right now, my heart is breaking for Frankie. Grace is feeling cheated but Frankie has lost the love of her life. I’m also waiting for Grace’s daughter with the kids to. . . just. . . lose. . .it. I’ll watch the end of the first season tonight.

My wife really likes it. I think it’s well made, but my parents went through a quietly brutal divorce when I was a kid, and there was too much cringe to the comedy for me to enjoy watching the show.

Ive watched every season. Binge watched them all in fact. So funny. Season one was great, season two first half had me laughing out loud every single episode. It became a little more serious in the second half, but still great. Season three was also very good, downright hysterically funny at points.

Brianna is my favorite character. She’s just comedy gold.

Don’t they all own the beach house? I thought they both had the right to live there because, when they were still married they bought the house together?

I started watching but haven’t seen many episodes just because I only just got netflix and there is so much to see. since y’all like it, I will go back and keep watching.

I’ve really enjoyed it and eagerly awaited the release of every new season. I’ll have to re-watch season one because I can’t remember it with the exception of the awkwardness between Sheen and Waterston. It gets better. I remember it being mostly Sheen being uncomfortable. He’s come a long way since S1.

I LOVE G&F! We’ve seen all four(?) seasons, so if you have questions I’ll be glad to try to remember things from the previous ones. Yes, Sol and Robert get better (so much so that you sometimes forget that they basically had a 20-year marital affair together then dumped both their wives with about a month’s notice before their wedding, they’re such a cute couple). I like that the show doesn’t gloss over that, either. I like the dynamic between the families (the kids, especially).

Add me to the list of people who binge-watch each season upon release. It took me two tries to get through the first season, though: both Grace and Frankie annoyed the crap out of me at the beginning. They can still be annoying, but now I think of them mostly affectionately and they bother me much less. Sol and Robert are awesome; I’m so happy they aren’t caricatures. I’m also happy that the show deals with some realities of being 70-something. I mostly like all of the kids, too. And it’s been fun to see Ernie Hudson, Peter Gallagher, Tim Bagly, etc.

Yup, love the show. I love how pretentious Brianna tries to act. I forget how it came up, but one show Bud called her “Brianna Danna Ding-Dong”. Knocked her down a few notches.
Nice show, well written.

Two episodes in to season two and I’m still crying over Frankie’s dilemma. Real tears I cried when she had to marry the love of her life to someone else.

I think the reason Sol and Robert aren’t working for me is Robert’s teeth. He has insincere teeth. Yeah, i know it sounds weird but there you have it. I’m glad Grace dumped Craig T Nelson and hope the sexy car thief comes back for a little slap and tickle. And also hope Frankie gets a little jungle love going on with the Ghostbuster.

Still waiting for the (now pregnant with twins) daughter to lose her mind. And Brianna-- don’t ever change.

The one thing I really like about this show is how everyone genuinely cares for each other. Even though they sometimes don’t like each other.

Season 3 Episode 6 and i am so loving this show.

I think I may be right smack dab in the middle of the demographic for this show. Sadly, I think a large majority of those who would love this show may not know how to watch it as 70 year olds are not known for their internet prowess.

I am loving all the over 50 actors I grew watching on TV and in movies showing up as, well, people. This show is populated with actors over the age of thirty. Like real life! Holy shit!

Robert and Sol are now the cutest couple. They went from unbelievable to absolutely adorable in a season and a half. Go them.

I knew the mother of all those children was going to have to explode. Why? Why does Mallory have so many children? I am happy with the knowledge that this show does not punish their characters to much for being themselves.

Here’s the thing about me. I’m a “shipper”. I like to push characters into romantic relationships. I see love sprouting everywhere and I want Brianna and Bud to hook up. Right now, both Brianna and Bud deserve better than what they’re getting in their relationships and they both really get each other.

And finally, I want Jacob to be my boyfriend.

I watched most of it. I sort of lost interest, not for any specific reason, midway through the season where they were trying to get a loan for their startup company.

My sister loved it as well, but when the daughter had a baby, it was done so stupidly, she ave up. That scene was almost like a slapstick like.

What I find odd about G&F is that isn’t an Aaron Sorkin series. Let me explain; Tomlin played Sheen’s secretary for the last 5 seasons of West Wing. Waterson played Fonda’s news director in Newsroom. Both Sorkin’s shows.

I know, right?! Ernie aged VERY gracefully.

I love this show so much. I showed it to my grandmother and while she’s not a fan of all the Fucks and Cunts, she doesn’t get mad and laughs. We haven’t made it to the vibrators yet. I’m still working on teaching her how to get into Netflix on the remote. The Crown has fewer episodes so it’ll be easier to get through that one as a teaching exercise.

It’s too easy to compare it to Golden Girls, but it should be compared in a positive way, showing that women of a certain age are still people. (Although do the Golden Girls look younger and younger now when you watch reruns?) That there’s still sex and laughs and yet it doesn’t shy away from arthritis or strokes. All older people are ignored in most media that is popular (What is the new Matlock? Or just reruns of now realllllly old Matlocks?) and women do get it worse. They’re just grandmothers who bake. But that’s not fair because there levels and depths still.

I just watched the church vibrator focus group episode. And I can understand why a bank wouldn’t want to give a 74 year old person a 10 year loan. In their case, couldn’t they have one of their kids co-sign? I mean, the banks have no problem asking parents to co-sign on their children’s loans.

I just binge-watched the entire series (so far), and give it a B+. I have always LOVED Sam Waterston, though his over-acting was getting to me (it started around the time his beard grew). Love Lily Tomlin. Love Ethan Embry. Didn’t care for the scenes in the Say Grace offices, especially those with Brianna and Barry, who I think totally lacked chemistry together. Loved seeing all the older stars, especially Millicent Martin. I have never liked Tim Bagley in anything I’ve seen him in. I wish Sam Elliott had been in more episodes.

Are there really people who spend half their lives eating, and don’t gain weight?

Are there really people who drink as much as Grace, and can still stand up?

I could use one of those toilets.

Sorry always did not like Sam, especially on Law and Order. Of course I hate that show in general (my wife always had it on in the bedroom when I was trying to go to sleep). But I think you can equate the length of his beard to BJ’s mustache in MASH. BJ sans mustache, good MASH. BJ with mustache, overacted, not funny, bad MASH
