I’ve been on call all weekend, including today. But I do get compensation for it.
I just finished an 11-hour shift with a 45-minute commute, each way. Hence my scuridal rage. Now if you’ll excuse me I have rodents to torture.
Errr… I’m not sure I want to hear the end of this story. Admittedly my cats have been ceibrating Xmas by killing what ever they can get their paws on, but unless you a cat wth amazing computer skills…
I did for many years when I was in Radio.
Your local station doesn’t go off the air on Christmas Day. Back when I worked in the business there had to be someone there. I don’t think I got a Christmas Day off until I became Program Director - then I was in charge of the schedules!
But it’s been 17 years since I worked December 25th.
I worked Christmases when I worked for a major phone company. Not only do they not get the day off, but those peaceful family holidays are the busiest phone days of the year.
Then I worked some more Christmases when I was in the Army, with no compensatory pay, but we were supposed to get comp time. Sometimes we even did.
