The landlord stripped and repainted two of our radiators (not here, he took them out and away to do it), which now look lovely but smell horrible. It was a faint, almost pleasant paint smell until last night when the heat kicked on for the first time. Now it smells like a paint factory in here, and we all have headaches. I opened the windows, and luckily it’s not that cold today, but it there anything else I can do? Any magic product that will absorb the odors more quickly than they’ll naturally go away?
Leave the heat on at maximum (with radiators in some buildings, you might not have much control) and let them bake.
Open the windows, use fans to force through-ventilation if there’s not a breeze, and beyond that, there’s not much to be done for paint fumes.
Run down to your local pet store or health food store and find some zeolite bags. Look for the words “natural volcanic mineral.” Hang it up by the radiators.
In 15 minutes, there will be no smell whatsoever.
Woo-hoo! Fans and zeolite. I’m on it. Thanks!
Put a bowl of vinegar in the room too. That helps.
