This morning I wrote all my addressees to announce that I was cutting ties with AOL. My brother wrote back, and he said AOL itself had started using MCI for all its internal mail. Messages had been disappearing and taking several days to arrive.
I’ve never made a point of slinging mud at AOL, but this comes from the horse’s mouth.
By the way, I found out today that, if you change your sig line, it 's retroactive. All my old posts have the new gag. It’s eerie.
That’s old news, actually. I remember reading about that a few months ago.
Time Warner (I think) during their merger had tried to get their employees to switch to AOL for mail instead of Outlook, or whatever they were using, and they eventually had to change for some alternative because it wasn’t working out.
Do a search for it on Slashdot, that’s where I originally read about it.
AOL’s using MCI for all its internal mail? That’s news to me, and I work for them. We use our own mail client, and AFAIK have no plans to change in the foreseeable future.
