I swear, today’s pile of email gets stranger by the kilobyte . . .
"Dear Fool,
We hear that your email address will be changing now that American Online has taken over Netscape. We don’t want to lose you!
Would you please send us your new American Online e-mail address so that we can continue delivering your subscription e-mail newsletters?
All you need to do is click the link below, enter your @netscape.net address, and click where it says “Change your e-mail address”"
This was sent from The Motley Fool, thus the “Dear Fool” bit. But what’s up with this? Is AOL actually taking over netscape?
AOL bought Netscape well over a year ago. It’s old news.

Yeah, if you’ve installed any version of Communicator since, I think, 4.5 it forces AOL Instant Messenger and some other crap upon your system. For shame! But it has been a long time ago, now.
S’then why is the domain of my email not @aol.com ?

My guess would be that the Netscape name still holds a lot of recognition and value, and AOL is retaining the Netscape brand and domain names.
Same reason that Philip Morris bought Kraft many years ago, but it’s still Kraft Macaroni and Cheese.
