AOL Favorites Lists

I have two computers, each with AOL. One, I rearranged my favorites list to make it more organized. The only problem is, the reorganization is only one of the computers. I guess that means that the favorites list is actually on the computer.
Does anybody know the file it’s in, so I can just copy that, and replace it on the other computer, rather than having to rearrange the favorites list on the other computer? (Because I have a lot web sites book marked.)
I know if I grab a new web site, it’s in the favorites in both computers, and in the past, rearranging on one, affected both, but not this time.
So anyway, any and all help is appreciated. Thanks.

Where X is the letter of your hard drive-- Y is your version of AOL-- and yourscreenname is (gasp) your screen name, with no extension (no period and three letters following it):

For AOL 6.0 and up, for Windows, the file is:
X:\Program Files\America Online Y.0\organize\yourscreenname

For AOL 5.0 and below, for Windows, the file is:
X:\America Online Y.0\organize\yourscreenname

For AOL for Mac, you’re on your own; I know there’s an article in the AOL keyword HELP about backing it up, but for some arcane reason Windows users can’t get to the Mac articles.

Good luck.

It’s in the organize folder in your AOL folder. It contains all the info for all of the screen names.

You can also do this:

Go online and open your Favorites list
At the bottom right is a button that says “Save/Replace”
Click on it and it will give you the option to, uh, save or replace your favorites list.
Choose save and then you can put a copy anywhere you’d like.
Since the file is pretty small, just e-mail it to yourself on the other computer.
When you open the e-mail, save the file somewhere (preferably NOT in the AOL folder) and use the “replace” option.

I do the same thing on a regular basis.

Great, thanks to both of you. I appreciate it.

Funny you should ask that,
I just got off the AOL tech help section about just that.
I have the same problem, new computer/old computer
This is what they told me
Below are the procedure on how to copy your files from the old computer to the new computer.

SAVING FAVORITES:

Please insert the Floppy disk. Then click on MY FAVORITES then click on SAVE/REPLACE button then choose the first option that says “SAVE THE FAVORITE PLACES FOR YOUR CURRENT SCREEN NAME” Then click OK. Then in the SAVE IN field please choose A: Drive, then please click on SAVE.

To open the FAVORITES to the new computer:

Insert the Floppy Disk then click on File on the menu bar, then select Open. In the Look In Field, please select A: Drive, then please select the file name of the Favorite Places that you have saved. Then click on Open.

NOTE: While the content of the Floppy disk is open, please open your Favorites too in your AOL toolbar then simply drag the whole folder from floppy to your Favorites.

SAVING FILING CABINET:

Click on the MAIL icon on the AOL tool bar, then choose Filing Cabinet. You will then see the main folder of the PFC which is the MAIL folder. Please right click it then choose SAVE FOLDER AS.

Then in the SAVE IN field, please choose A: Drive (floppy) then please click on SAVE. Make sure that the floppy disk is inserted in the A : drive.

To open it using the new computer, please follow the steps below:

Insert the Floppy Disk then click on File on the menu bar, then select Open. In the Look In Field, please select A: Drive, then please select the file name of the Filing Cabinet that you have saved. Then click on Open.

NOTE: While the content of the Floppy disk is open, please open your Filing Cabinet too in your AOL toolbar ( MY FILES then FILING CABINET) then simply drag the whole folder from floppy to your Filing Cabinet.
*This is all fine and well but I didnt have a floppy installed on my new puter…
She said I could copy it to CD, but the old computer doesnt have a CD … now what… I dont know…
good luck

Follow the suggestions in the earlier post:
save it to your hard drive, then e-mail it to yourself on the new computer. (If it gets saved as a folder, instead of a file, you can Zip the folder, e-mail it, then unZip the folder at the receiving end.)

Thanks, I 'll do that and let me just say.
Thank God for DSL
