I have aol. I hate aol. My parents pay for everything, so I can’t really complain (but here i am, right?) I have two sets of favorite places(as AOL calls bookmarks.) Sometimes when I sign on, it will have one set of favorite places. Seemingly randomly, it will switch to the other one, then back and forth. This doesn’t happen when I’m online, just when I sign off and back on. What the heck is going on?
Hey Slinger,
This procedure will solve all of your AOL funky problems…
Once the idiot has come on and said, “Welcome”, immediately minimize the AOL window so that you see your desktop. Now double click on the blue “e” on your desktop. This is Microsoft Internet Explorer. Use this browser software to navigate the web and save all your favorite places in this browser’s “Favorites” file. And Tada! No more hassles with AOL’s crappy software. You are now using AOL primarily for access to the Net. You are no longer chained to their software. When you’re all done cruisin’ the Web close the IE window and close the AOL window and you’ll hear the idiot say, “Goodbye”… All done! By the way, you can open numerous IE windows to go to different sites or webpages simultaneously. Tomorrow when you get back on follow these same procedures, and your surfin’ will be faster and more efficient, and your favorites will be better organized.
Have fun!
If you do switch from using the AOL browser to IE or Netscape and have a lot of favorites (bookmarks), one way to switch them over is to go to one of those online bookmark site, import your AOL favorites, then export them to IE.
Type online bookmarks into the search box at http://www.google.com and you will find several appropriate sites.
