I lived in an apartment that had a small washer that was built to connect to a sink. It was great as I was definitely on the poor college student budget.
I moved out of the apartment and couldn’t take the washer with me. Darn. (Though it might’ve been worth my small security deposit… I decided no)
I looked online and I can’t seem to even find a similar product… though I do see some how-tos on how to adapt one yourself (I don’t know how correct the how-tos are, though…)
In any case… I need a washer that can connect to my sink and run on regular house AC power.
The dryer… meh, I can just hang up string in a hallway.
Any ideas? I’d like to cut down on the 15 to 20 bucks I spend a week on laundry (That and lugging it 5 blocks in a bag on my back)
Googling “apartment clothes washer” returned 299,000 hits. Don’t know who current manufacturers are, but calling major appliance dealers in your town couldn’t hurt.
My search of “apartment washers” returned stacking units, while a search on “portable washers” found the kind that connect to a sink, from Haier, Avanti and GE.
I’d note that many apartment buildings will forbid this sort of arrangement in their leases. You might want to check your lease before you bring a washing machine into your apartment.
On a separate note, there are also apartment-sized dryers that don’t vent to the outside, either - they can also dump the evaporated water from your clothes to the sink, or collect in in bins that you then empty when you take out your dry clothes.
