Many of you had been reading my last thread that was posted on Friday about the “break-in.” I had been working on a short story following the horror/suspense lines and wanted to see what type of reaction it received. Well, it wasn’t the reaction I was suspecting and I apologize for scaring everyone.
Anyway, Friday evening at about 9 pm shortly, I tried to post back to it and at that time, it said my IP had been banned and I was unable to post. Saturday I went and looked at a house that I was thinking about buying and then went antiquing and didn’t get home until very late and went directly to bed. (On a plus side, I found an Amber pitcher with 8 matching glasses and 7 matching juice glasses for just over 40 bucks, woohoo!) I then came back here today to see if I could post, and it appears that I can at the moment. I don’t blame the moderators/administrators at all if they did in fact temporarily ban my IP. That is there job, to alleviate board disruptions, and if they banned my IP intentionally or someone else who happened to be riding temporarily on Earthlink with a similar IP, I applaud them for doing a good job.
Also, I wrote to everyone who expressed concern about me on Friday who had a visible email explaining what I was doing and that I was ok. Some people played along others just ignored it, but on Saturday it snowballed. I wasn’t at home most of Saturday as I explained above, plus at that time, I was under the impression that my IP was banned and didn’t know exactly what to do. (I have since emailed tuba, apologizing to her for the disruption and adding in an explanation as well.) It seems I came in at a bad time to write post Halloween horror/suspense. And again, I apologize to everyone who I have unduly and inadvertantly worried.
Thank you. I know now what I did was wrong and won’t be pulling a prank like that again. The only pranks I will play will be physical comedy in real life. (like dropping a bucket of pig blood on the god girl who is rumoured to have some major pyrokinetic powers… wait that would be a bad idea too.)

It would have been nice if you had thought to have someone post on your behalf that you were OK and it was a joke. I’m not saying that to criticize you, but to put the idea out there in case someone decides to post a prank thread in the future and runs into the same problem.
I can vouch for Sqrl as far as trying to post on Friday night, since I was there when he tried. However, I left for Calgary at 7:30 a.m. Eastern time and didn’t know this had snowballed until Weirddave called me at the hotel up here. I’ll spank him when I get home, if you all would like.
Your apology is heard, but please don’t make the mistake of thinking that a simple “I’m sorry” is going to cut it. You fucked around major league with a lot of people’s emotions yesterday and caused a lot of extra work for us moderators wondering how we should deal with this. It’s not something we’re going to forget easily. I’m not sure if you’re going to be banned because of this little stunt but if you’re lucky enough not to be, we’re going to be watching you very closely from now on.
Ginger, I assume you are DCnewsman posting under her name. BTW, Hi to the real Ginger in Calgary. I guess I could have had DC post for me, but I didn’t think about it until he got left on Saturday morning.
Oops. :rolleyes: That was actually me posting, not Ginger. She met me up here and took me to all the deserted and/or closed bars in Calgary and used my laptop. I didn’t think to look to see if she was signed in on it.
Well Sqrl, at least now you have the information you needed, right? In retrospect, I think the experiment, such as it was, was quite interesting. Kind of like a “War of the Worlds” type thing presented in a new medium. It could probably have been executed a bit more smoothly, but, well, everything turned out okay in the end, right?
Wring, it did occur to me, the next day. But not until after I dropped DCnewsman off at the airport. By that time, I had the rest of my day planned, with the house shopping and subsequent antiquing. Also, I figured I was either banned or it was shortly incoming (if it is not already) since I couldn’t post. I had previously written everyone who expressed concern to tell them that I was ok. And when I finally got home on Saturday night I was too tired to do anything else. I have since talked with a couple of Mods and sent off an email to one of the administrators. I believe everything else is at the top.
