Hi my name is SqrlCub. If you don’t know me, I was banned a few years ago for posting a practical joke thread pretending that my apartment was being broken into. It was pretty funny. A lot of people were in on it originally but then conveniently said they weren’t. I would have happily subscribed, but see, too many of the admins know who I am and I am not going to pay for something that will likely get me banned the moment they see my name.
So now that it is going pay, I’m coming clean. So who is your sock, who were you formerly that is now banned?
Lets see,
I was banned a long time ago (think I was 17 or 18) as Gloworm. Back then, they allowed HTML code to be typed directly in the text box. I wrote some CSS (cascading style sheets) that positioned a big black box over the advertisement on the thread. Big mistake. Tons of people got pissed, wanted to kill me, have me tortured. They threatened legal action on the grounds I “hacked” the message board lol. Of course, I, in no way, gained any type of illegal access to the message board, I simply used my right to post with the use of HTML, or cascading sytlesheets in this case. Yep, thought I was going to be sent to prison and be given the death penalty for awhile there, the way people were talking. The funny thing is, some people came to believe I was some girl who uses AOL, simply because the name I used (Gloworm) was in use by this girl on the aol service, which I had no idea about.
Anyway, I’m 22 now, so not really worried about all that. I really like reading the board, I don’t post a lot. And by the way…BBQ pit flames were way worse back then than they are now. They were very creative, very evil lol. These days…kinda lame. Just an observation.
I understand that. You’re right about the pit too. It was a lot worse then. Then again there are a set of Mods that hang around…Tuba Diva and Lynn Bodoni that remain just as cruel as they were when the Pit was then.
Hmm, I’m not saying I disagree, about them being cruel, I just have never seen it myself. I mean, I can understand why I was banned…from the looks of what I did, it could appear to some that I hacked the message board. I don’t hold any grudge against anyone, and just for the record (seeing as how the board is going pay, and I probably won’t be posting much until then) I apologize to the people I pissed off, if any of you are still a part of this message board. Most people here mean well, and are pretty cool people. I never wanted to really get on anyone’s bad side, well maybe I did, I was 17, I didn’t really care back then.
Ah well, hope I can still read the board after it goes to a pay site.
Yeah I had an idea it would end badly, probably with another banning. Not like it would matter since my name is right on my Paypal account and credit card that I would have used to pay for the site though. I wasn’t exactly a low profile poster. A while back a friend said that there was a SDMB anonymous livejournal or something where they were accusing someone else of being me. This was my only sock. I feel sorry for the targets of the vindictive harpies that were trying to single other people out for being me.
I didn’t really have an excuse for what I did. I thought it would be fun and in a way it was. I had let myself get stressed out in other parts of life and took it out here. No excuses, just what and why it happened. Though a good portion of the DC folk knew that this was my sock in addition to a mod or two. Though luckily, they kept it quiet.
Now I know we’re not supposed to drag up lawn chairs in Pit threads, but does that rule apply to MPSIMS too? Because I really really want to drag up a lawn chair and watch the carnage.
